Logic

"It's the most logical solution!"

"You're not doing that, agent Gene random-number" Kai replied.

I was too tired to open my eyes, the frame got me trapped in that state in which I could only hear the conversation. I didn't know what they were talking about, or why Kai was so alarmed, but I could not do anything about it.

I felt them both getting closer, Kai was walking with fast and short steps, Gene made confident ones. I tried to open my eyes, and managed to do it slightly.

"Yes?"

"Irina, know I don't like this a bit, but..."

"I... wanted to try and fix your vision, it's gonna be a bit tough but... it's logical, and..."

I decided not to tell them about how strong the frame was now.

"Could we wait... just a bit more?"

"It's better if we do it now-"

"YOU'RE NOT DOING THAT GENE"

I decided not to think about it, I had enough with the frame, which now was moving extremely fast. It showed apocalypse images, it was...

I didn't blame Gene for wanting to fix it, but I also didn't want that to happen, I was too scared to admit it.

Jackson supported me during the rest of the day. Kai and Gene seemed tense between each other. If I closed my eyes, even if it was just a bit, Kai went to check where Gene was just to make sure he wasn't around.

Jackson didn't sing through the rest of the day. He was obviously not willing to annoy me, and I was glad. He was my friend. A great friend.

Alien sat on my legs, I tenderly looked at him.

"I find him cute now, actually" I whispered.

Jackson smiled. We were having a good time, I had almost forgotten the frame, until it happened.

It covered everything, I could just see the images it showed. At least I still could hear what happened outside.

"Gene isn't around, it can't be him" Kai said.

"Is she... dreaming? Irina???"

I couldn't reply, not even move.

"Her brain is broken" Kai said, ironically.

I kept seeing it: a dinosaur running, leading the purple creatures running with torches, burning everything. The Lost World... destroyed.

...

I was breathing heavily, my heart racing, trying to calm down a bit.

"Alex, Twinkle and Ruby went out" Kai informed.

"And Gene is not going to come closer for sure, he's terrified, right Kai?"

"Shhhhhh"

I laughed a bit. The frame was now just surrounding them, and it moved slower, which was good.

We stayed like that until night. I went to sleep, and so did Jackson, but Kai kept looking at Gene, not really comfortable with his presence.

Gene didn't do anything weird, besides from trying to fix the Chameleon upside down. He was probably embarrassed, I don't know, but...

Kai and him talked.

"I know it's too much to ask her, but..."

"You're not gonna do that, I'm not letting you, even if she agrees, she trusts you because..."

I wanted to keep listening, but I fell asleep, tired and exhausted, hoping everything would get fixed.
