“Huh? Who the hell are you? Am I dreaming or something?” I asked, squinting at the odd little figure floating in front of me
Nope, you’re not dreaming! it replied with unsettling enthusiasm. Let me introduce myself. My name is System! You’re probably wondering why you’re here, right?
“Uh… yeah,” I said, crossing my arms. “So, ‘System,’ what’s the deal? Why am I here?”
Technically, you’re in a game right now! it said as though this was normal. And you have to complete your mission. If you succeed, you’ll return to your life. If you fail... well, you’ll die peacefully! (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧
I stared at it, dumbfounded. “Wait, what do you mean ‘die peacefully’? Is this some kind of joke?”
Oh no, not a joke! the System chirped. But don’t worry, I wouldn’t let you die carelessly. I’m not that evil!ヽ(‘д´；)/
“Wow, that’s so reassuring,” I said, voice dripping with sarcasm. “So let me get this straight I have to survive and complete some kind of mission?”
Exactly! Your mission is to help a man named Francis Mosses. The System’s voice grew even peppier, if that were possible. Your goal is to make him happy, stop him from attempting suicide, and help him raise his daughter! (≧∇≦)/
I blinked at it. “Hold up. So I’m supposed to fix some random dude’s life and raise his kid? Great. Just great.” I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “I don’t even know the first thing about giving advice, let alone parenting. And now I’m stuck with that responsibility?”
Don’t worry! I’ll help you with 24/7 support! For better or worse, we’re a team now. Hehe! (^_^♪)
I stared at it flatly. “Sounds more like I’m stuck with this thing”
