The car ride was non existent, I slept the full 4 hours as Steven drove. Instantly I woke up when the car had slowed down and we entered the small town of cousins. First time I came here I was 6, then I was 10, now I'm 17. Nostalgia arose when we drove into town, the small corner stores, the country club, beautiful bright summery cafes and the beach.
Every summer Belly would beg aunty Laurel if she could bring her favourite Cousin, Me.Aunt Laurel looked over at me, we were in the back, "Ready to see Susannah and the boys?" she asked curiously, my head tilted and agreed.
I hadn't seen Susannah in a long time, way before she was diagnosed with her cancer, everyone tells me she's doing way better now after her chemo treatment.
Seeing Conrad and Jere is going to be fun I guess... We're a lot older, so the vibe might be different.
In all honesty, Belly yaps about both of them so much that I just feel like I haven't missed out on anything since we were 10.
Belly is only a year and a-bit younger than me, she is the best cousin ever/best-friend, we totally understand one another! We always joke about how we're meant to be sisters instead of cousins."We're 2 minutes away." Belly squealed, she excitedly let her hair down and started fixing it. I knew that was for Conrad, her man of her dreams.

"Honey, choose any room you'd like, unpack and make yourself feel at home, it's good to see you again beautiful girl." Susannah explained with a warm smile, I thanked her and started making my way upstairs. I remember this beautiful house.
The room I chose was the last one down at the end of the hallway, when I walked into my room my jaw dropped because of how gorgeous it was, the furniture was perfect, the design, the decor.
Slowly but surely I began to unpack, I could hear belly's laugh outside in the backyard, she was most likely still in one pool after her belly flop.*knock.*
I turned around to see Jeremiah at my door, he was leaning against the door frame.
"You chose the room with the best view of the sunset and the beach." He mentioned smiling, I happily admired the view.
"I'm happy to be back, I feel warm and content." I replied hoping he knew what I meant, Jere walked over and sat down on the bed.
"I think this will be one of the best summers ever, it's good to have you back, I miss the fun we had as kids." Jere replied cheekily with a wink, I couldn't help but blush.
Jeremiah Fisher made me blush.
He was cute growing up, but now he was... more. Those deep blue eyes, the curls, his smile that could swoon anyone.
"Need help unpacking?" He asked as he walked on over to where I was, by the dresser. I insisted that I was good but he insisted to help me anyway, he was the same thoughtful jere. We both smiled at one another wholeheartedly.
"Hey? Can I ask you something? It's about Conrad."
Jeremiah raised his eyebrow curiously.
"What's with him? Or is he just this type of person now? Quiet and non-welcoming, he didn't really greet me earlier." I explained anxiously.
Jere folded his arms before replying.
"Don't take it to heart y/n, he's been like this for a couple months now after his breakup with his ex Aubrey."
It stayed quiet while I processed what he said.
"After you unpack, me and bells were thinking of going for a swim at the beach before dinner, you in?" He asked, I pulled out my bikini.
"Duh." I replied smirking.Conrad pov
I saw her walking up the stretch that connected our house to the beach, she was wet and in her swim gear. Assuming she went out swimming with Jere and belly .
"Hey." I yelled out, y/n searched for my voice until she made eye contact with me, I waved slightly before she made her way over to me.
"Sorry I didn't greet you earlier, I was pretty distracted and just zoned out." I replied,
y/n folded her arms while laughing it off lightly,
"No problem it's okay, it's good to see you again, last time I was here you helped me with my summer homework." Y/n mentioned with a bright smile,
I leaned back while brushing my fingers through my hair.
"I remember that. Um are you coming to the bonfire tonight? " I asked, she raised her eyebrow confused.
"Oh there's a bonfire?"
Her cute facial expression changed.
"Yeah, they throw one every year on the first night of summer, it's pretty chill, you should come later." I invited her,
she looked up and smiled, "hmmm let me have a think?" She joked,
" um yes, I'd love to go." Y/n replied.Y/n pov
Aunt Laurel and Susannah were in the kitchen preparing a brownie mix, I sat by the island and examined them, admiring their friendship.
"Laurel, look at your beautiful niece. You and Belly look exactly like Laurel when I first met her in college." Susannah mentioned, I thanked her back.
"Join us for a movie tonight? Belly's going to come down after her shower to join." I kindly rejected the offer.
"Sorry Aunt Laurel and Susannah, I'll pass but for sure next time."
Honestly, I wasn't in the mood anymore to join the boys for the bonfire. I went upstairs to my room and before you know it, Belly came running in.
She had a pink mini dress on and looked ready to go out,"let's go to the bonfire y/n." She pleaded, I nodded a no, "I'm not ready to party bells, Im not ready to socialise."
Belly pouted her lip, trying to give me puppy dog eyes.
"I know, but pretty please."
I shook my head.
"Belly, I was cheated on 2 weeks ago and I'm not ready to party. I can drive you down to the bonfire though and pick you up if needed."
Belly gave in and said 'okay'.
I informed Laurel that I'd drive jelly belly to the bonfire since the boys had already ditched her.
During the drive I felt a wave of sadness hit me, this was pretty much the first time I acknowledge my break up... or being cheated on.
I'm hoping this summer can help me heal.-
End of chap :)
