We Know

Ram's POV 

Jenny slept in my arms, i couldn't sleep. I got text message from dad around 11:30 pm, 'come to my study alone if you are awake'. I got up without disturbing Jenny and went to dad's study, all my family was there except Nivi. I asked what's wrong

"I met Janardhan Rao last week when I went to States..." dad said. I heard this name somewhere. Why is he so important to talk about at this hour?

"We met few times before, this time he took me to his home. I saw Jenny's pictures there" he said calmly staring at me. He is Jenny's dad. Oh god! That explains why dad was distant when he returned from states

"I asked about Jenny. He told, 'she is my only daughter, Sweeha. Her name is Janaki, we call her Sweeha, short name for Sweetheart and everyone here calls Jenny. She is pediatrician. I'm looking for a good guy with good family for her. We were too busy to give her time, I want to get her married into a big wonderful family like yours. That's the reason I brought you home. I heard about your second son, Ram. Sweeha is in India. She will be perfect for your family, modern but traditional, intelligent and down to earth, kind, compassionate. My net value is more than 60,000 crores, she is the only heir. Please don't think I'm boasting, meet her once...' he said. I was shocked, they have no idea about their daughter getting married to you but wanted to get her married to you" dad said looking at me. I couldn't look into his eyes, don't know what to say

"I told him that I will definitely consider but give one month time. I thought about everything that happened from the time we met Jenny, you said that you don't know Jenny, never met her. You are not the kind of person to give up on loved ones. We know you Ram but that day we trusted some fake proofs instead of you. I'm sorry" dad apologized 

"It's ok dad, I understand, the situation was like that... but it's the best thing that happened, Jenny came into my life. I really love Jenny now, she loves me too. It doesn't matter how she entered my life. Please don't talk to her about it now. It's not her fault dad, she is as innocent as me. She loves our family, wants to tell you the truth but scared of loosing this family. " i said honestly. Dad smiled 

"I know..." he said hesitantly, I could see regret on his face. Why! "I'm so sorry dad, I hurt you all, I'm really sorry, please forgive me" He hugged me

"We heard your conversation yesterday, everything... sorry, it's not our intention to invade your privacy. Veer told about meeting Jenny's dad and what he said. They have no idea about your marriage. You both lied. Jenny is Hindu, not Christian, it was a lie. We wondered if everything was a lie. You said firmly that you don't  know Jenny. There was no need for you to hide your love, we never say no to our kids. But we didn't trust you because of proofs and forced you to marryJenny...but everything seemed fine between you two after marriage and Jenny is a wonderful child 

After meeting Jenny's dad, one thing was clear, something is not right in your relation... last few weeks Jenny was distant from you... I saw few times how she find a reason to stay away from you , even sleeping in Nivi's room. You were going to office early and coming late. So..." mom paused

"So we discussed with everyone and decided to place a mike in your bedroom and listen to your conversation. We thought we might get some idea but didn't know we would know the whole truth" dad said. Last night! They would have heard everything, they would have learnt about Shalini, what I did to Jenny too...oh my God! They learnt about Nisha's accident. I looked at Nisha who is in tears. I asked if she heard, she nodded

"I'm so sorry, because of me..."

"Never blame yourself Ram. It's not your fault that a psycho who is obsessed with you could stoop so low to do that. I thought it was accident, written in my fate, I accepted my fate. I didn't know it was caused intentionally, It takes sometime to digest the truth" she said 

"Ram, what you did to Jenny is not right... we heard everything, the circumstances too but I can't believe you could do something like that... It happened in our home, I couldn't protect my daughter..." mom said in broken voice 

"I can never forgive myself mom... I don't remember anything, I was drunk that day... Santhosh warned me not to drink but I was broken seeing divorce papers. I thought no one will be home, you all were not there and i didn't know Jenny returned. I remember drinking at Santhosh's place. Next thing I remember was on bed with Jenny in our home... I felt like dying... I'm a monster..." I cried, remembering how much I hurt Jenny. 

" I don't know what to say... your guilt is the biggest punishment for you... whatever happened is happened... I'm glad you both overcame that phase..."

"Are you sending Jenny to States?" Mom asked 

"I don't want to stay away from Jenny but she is right, I can't take risk... I don't know what to do" I said 

""I have a plan" dad told his plan... I'm so thankful to him
