3rd person's POV:
"A masquerade ball is certainly an interesting place to find a dead body. A very interesting place to commit a murder as well. But, the murderer just planned the murder at such an event." Nashua, the head detective spoke to all of the other detectives in the room. Nashua's brown spiked up hair was a mess, unlike how it usually was. His dark brown eyes filled with puzzlement.

All detectives in the room were just as intrigued by the case as Nashua was. This was a large case, and they had barely gathered much information. It had only been 2 hours since they were given this case. All they knew was that a woman named "Valerie Ecolle" had gotten killed at a masquerade ball. Even Kaveh Kshrewar and Alhaitham Haravatat were quite confused. Both of them were undoubtedly, the best detectives in the room.

Both of them had excellent perception and decoding skills. All they would require to solve a case was just a few clues, and within a few days, the case would be settled. They would've made a great pair if they didn't feel hatred toward each other. "We need to dispatch a few of our best detectives on this case. However, since there are very few of us who have perfect skills, we will have to assign people in pairs." Nashua, said, trying to keep up a calm and confident attitude.

Murmurs and whispers filled the room. Who was going to be paired up together? Would they finally solve this extremely complex case? Who would be the two to do so? The head detective began to list people. "-And lastly, Kaveh Kshrewar and Alhaitham Haravatat." Nashua chose his tone carefully as he assigned the two together.

Kaveh's POV:
Seriously? I get this is a serious case, and we need the most skilled people in the room.. BUT ME WITH HIM?! I can barely imagine him and I investigating this case together. Whatever. As soon as this case is over, we'll go back to hating each other. I thought inside of my head as he listed our names together. Once everyone was dismissed, I approached him calmly. However, I actually wanted to yell at him and perhaps smack him across the face.

"Come on, let's head over to the mansion where this murder took place." Alhaitham's voice sounded cold and emotionless, as if he couldn't care less about this case. I hate that about him. Regardless of whatever the situation was, his voice would always sound like he couldn't care less. Most of our co-workers already left to the mansion as they were assigned earlier.

I nodded, simply following after him to his car and grabbing our supplies that would be required to properly gather clues.

We headed inside of the mansion, into the dancing hall, where the main action of the party took place. And, also because it was the only area of the mansion other people had not began to investigate. Everything looked relatively clean, not much was left behind or laid on the floor. "Let's start investigating.. I have a feeling something went down in this room." I said as I took out my notepad and pen. It smelled like alcohol in here, probably because there was a beverage corner off to the side.

I could hear Alhaitham hum in response and walk away to investigate. For some reason, I couldn't get this feeling out of my head. For some reason, whenever I was with him, even if I argued with him.. I felt safe.. I wanted to protect him too. I wanted to let him know that I cared for him.. I.. care for him? I snapped out of my thoughts as I heard Alhaitham's voice. "Kaveh, you're gonna want to see this." I heard his deep and soft voice echo throughout the room. I ran over to the spot where he was. I could feel my eyes widen.

"Is.. Is that a letter?" I inquired as he nodded in my direction. "Whoever the murderer was... seems like they're the crazy type who wants to be found. Especially with leaving a lipstick mark on the seal." Alhaitham reached for the letter, and opened it carefully. A piece of paper dropped out. I took it and started to read it.

"Hello! Wondering who I'am or who the next victim will be, huh? Well... I'll give you a clue, darlings! I'm out seeking revenge after a few people. I hope the Ecolles remember to look out for themselves.. good luck.. you'll need it. -Kissu" I get why they would write 'kissu" "Yeah.. you're right, this person is insane!" I yelled from shock.

Alhaitham's POV:
This person was insane.. I was sure of it. What kind of murderer would leave a letter? With a lipstick stain on it...? All of a sudden, I gazed at Kaveh. For some reason.. even though I hated him, even though I argued with him.. I wanted to protect him for some reason. I wanted to keep him safe. Because.. for some reason, I couldn't bear the thought of something happening to him.

Before I could think more of it, I grabbed the letter, and held it firmly in my hand. "C'mon, Kaveh. Let's keep searching for more evidence." He nodded, and began to look around the room for more evidence. How many more clues could this psychopath of a killer hid?.. it's better to search everywhere we can.

And that's the end of the prologue! Thank you so much for reading the prologue. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the next chapter too. In the next chapter, I'll give you a hint for what happens!<3 So, Kaveh and Alhaitham find a few more clues, and start questioning suspects, and spend a bit more time together.. but.. something seems off to the both of them. What is that off thing?
