Hi everyone!!<3 welcome to chapter one!<3 now in chapter one, there's going to be a lot more ✨🏳️🌈✨ bc YES. Also, just to clear things up, this is just an AU where Kaveh and Alhaitham are detectives in Sumeru. It takes place in a modern AU! ^^ Also, in this AU Kaveh and Navia are biologically related as siblings :3 so yeah! Also, chapters are going to take some time to release, and chapters will have at least 1,000 words! :> (Should I make Navia an important part of the plot?) ANYWAYS, ENJOY<3
Local timing: 8:20PM
Alhaitham's POV:
I could tell Kaveh had began to frantically search around for more clues. He seemed very worried about this case now. I had to agree with him on this matter. This case is insane.. the state they found Valerie Ecolle in.. it was very.. brutal. I would rather not recall it. I began to follow suit, and examine the place carefully. The room was quite large, a large chandelier on top, marvel floors, and two big beautiful windows were on the side of the room that was on the side of the outside. It could easily fit two hundred people inside. That was the exact amount of guests invited to the masquerade ball. I wasn't surprised at all.
"Alhaitham, I found another clue! I- I think it might be a clue as to who the next victim could be!" He came running up to me with a handkerchief with a kiss mark and an initial on it. "L.E" I held the other side of the handkerchief with my hand, and examined the handwriting. It was sloppy and rushed, just like the one on the letter.
"Hmm.. both of the pieces of evidence seem to have the same exact handwriting. And the lipstick stain appears to be the same shade of bright red." Something about this piece of evidence.. it felt.. off. Both of them were coated with this weird perfume like smell. This indicates that the supposed murderer loves makeup.
"Yeah.. and, there's something weird about these pieces. They both reek of perfume." Kaveh said, saying what I thought aloud. I looked at him, surprised that he said what I was going to say. "This means.. makeup and fragrances are related to the murderer!" Kaveh yelled in a slight undertone. I nodded at his direction. "Exactly."

After some more investigating, we didn't find many clues. However, just as we were heading out, I tripped on something. I began to yell, but he caught me. My face was planted right on his chest. I could feel my face warm. WHY WAS I FEELING LIKE THIS TOWARDS HIM?.. I cleared my throat, and acted like nothing happened. My face was still quite warm.He.. he looked cute. His face was flushed with a tint of red, and he had a stupid smile on his face.. how adorable. No. No, he was not cute or adorable. I looked under me to see what I had tripped on. It was a perfume bottle. "This appears to be a perfume bottle.." I whispered underneath my breath before picking it up.
The brand read: "Lisha's Fragrance" I gazed up at him. "Have you ever heard of Lisha's Fragrance? It's not a name I'm familiar with." I whispered into his ear. He nodded. "Yeah, my little sister, Navia is obsessed with this brand. It's popular even in Fontaine!" I remembered the handkerchief. The handkerchief's initials were "L.E".. could Lisha be an Ecolle?
"Come on, Kaveh. I think we've got a lead." I held my hand out to him, and he took it. Hopefully, he didn't take it as anything romantic that we were holding hands.
Kaveh's POV:
OH MY GOD, HE'S HOLDING MY HAND?! CALM DOWN, KAVEH. JUST RELAX, DON'T WORRY. HE PROBABLY DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING WITH THIS.. yeah.. he doesn't mean anything with this.. and this is a serious case! You shouldn't be thinking about romance, Kaveh.

We made our way back to our detective agency, and Alhaitham and I were sitting on the chairs opposite to Nashua's desk. "So, these were the pieces of evidence you found?" He asked, curiously inspecting the letter, handkerchief, and empty perfume bottle.
