Never Going to Leave

Chapter 17:

(Amber POV)

-a few years later-

Time had passed quickly and everything was starting to settle. Des was working hard to restore Coumure and I couldn't be more proud. I offered any support I could and they are currently working so that the people's businesses could reopen and to help revitalize the crops. I came back to Enchancia and continued my work. Oddly enough when I brought over the children of Coumure here during the war the people began to see me in a new light. I was relieved as they started to have faith in my ability to rule them one day.

Des and I are still courting and things are going smoothly. We make sure to see each other once a week even though we are both busy. It seems to work and we both know that neither of us will leave the other behind. Life has been hectic throughout the years but, I found someone I could depend on and who could depend upon me. One day we would rule together and I genuinely looked forward to that day. Now we were getting ready for Hugo and Sofia's coronation and I was excited to see my sister and to have an excuse to spend more time with Desmond.

(Desmond POV)

Tonight was the night. I had talked to her father, her mother and her brother and got all of their approval, (I didn't have time to get Sofia's with how busy things were for her). Part of me regretted waiting so long, but we both had to get our lives in order before we could take this step. Now both our kingdoms were as prosperous as we knew they could be. I rode off in my carriage with my hand clutching onto the box in my jacket pocket. I quickly arrived at Amber's castle and smiled as I watched her descend the stairs and come down to my carriage. I was escorting her to the Ball so she was riding with me.

We rode together and I couldn't even keep track of everything that was happening I was so nervous. We were talking and I was a stuttering mess but, Amber didn't mind. She never minded. We watched as Sofia and Hugo were crowned King and Queen and soon after we went to the Ball that was being held after. "May I have this dance," Amber asked me. I smiled and bowed down, "I believe I am the one who is supposed to ask that." She shrugged, "You would have eventually." I took her out to the dance floor and we began to dance alongside everyone else.

After the dance we went off to the side and Amber grabbed a glass of the champagne from one of the waiters who was walking around. "Can you believe that Sofia and Hugo are King and Queen now?" Amber said facing the dance floor. I smiled at her although she didn't see me and decided that this was the moment. I knelt down on one knee, "Amber?" She turned to face me, "Yes." Her mouth fell open and she dropped her glass and it crashed on the ground, "Crown Princess Amber Adelaide Winslow will you marry me?"

(Amber POV)

When I saw Desmond my heart stopped. My mouth fell as I looked down at him and saw the ring in his hands. "Crown Princess Amber Adelaide Winslow will you marry me?" I started to nod and went down to my knees to wrap my arms around him. "I love you," I whispered into his ear. "I love you too," He said back. He slid the ring onto my finger and I smiled as I looked at it. We stood up and everyone congratulated us.

We left the ball early, we just wanted to be alone. We began to ride back and decided not to fly. We wanted to make it as long as possible. He wrapped his arm around me and I leaned into his shoulder "Des, what are we going to do about our kingdoms?" He looked over at me, "What do you mean?" "We have two kingdoms that need the both of us. What are we going to do?" He smiled, "Well what if we combined our kingdoms together?" "You would really want to do that... What about you people? They fought so hard..." He laughed, "I already asked the parliament. They said as long as they get to keep their parliament sessions and we don't favor one group over the other they are all in." Of course he had thought about this. "I love you," I said again. He leaned down and we shared a kiss. "I love you too." "I'm never going to leave you," I whispered as I leaned my forehead against his. He interlocked his fingers with mine, "Nor I you."

Author's Note: Sorry if this is kind of rushed and short. I was struggling to come up with the best way to go through the events of Enchancian Curse and Road to Coronation but nothing seemed right so it is just getting skipped over. Once again sorry that it is rushed and short. The next chapter will be the last one. I might do an epilogue that covers their life after but, I'm not sure.
