Chapter 18
(Amber POV)
-1 month later-
"Is everything ready? Is everyone here? Did someone find James? Where is Dad?" I started spiraling. "Amber, calm down. We have everything under control," Sofia started saying. "You have to say that Sofia you are my matron of honor." She laughed after I said that, "Doesn't mean it isn't true. Look everything will be perfect the moment you see Desmond, until then you need to calm down." I forced out a smile trying to take Sofia's advice, "Would you like me to check on everything while you finish getting ready?" I let out a breath, "You really are my sister. Yes please, thank you." She began walking out of the room as Clio and Hildegard entered, "Beware she is spiraling." Sofia warned them as she left the room.
They came closer to me and arranged my hair putting on my favorite tiara. I put on a dark green velvet chocker that was made of the same materials of the bridesmaid dresses and it had an emerald in the front that matched the emeralds in my tiara but, it looked great. I tied a similar long green ribbon to my wrist and let it hang from my hand. Clio helped me put on my dress and everything felt perfect. "You look amazing Amber," Hildegard said. "Pretty as a picture," Clio said. I smiled at both of them. "Thank you, who knows maybe soon James will make an honest woman out of you," I said to Clio. She just blushed, "After everything that has happened and all the travel I was doing with the tour, we are taking out time. What about you Hildy? Anyone special?" We both turned our attention to Hildegard. "Ladies, you know how Freezenburg works," she sighed, "I will know soon enough." We rolled our eyes, "Come on, are you telling us that there is no one you have your eye on." "I didn't say that, but for now I just want to enjoy your special day, in the fabulous gowns I designed." We all laughed at that and Sofia rejoined us. "Everything is ready Amber. The groom is waiting." I smiled over at her, "Well we better not keep him waiting, don't want him to have a panic attack." I said. We walked out and I was getting ready to walk down the aisle.
(Desmond POV)
I was a complete mess. What if I stuttered during my vows? What if I said the wrong thing? What if Amber changed her mind? "Des are you alright?" I turned and saw James and Hugo behind me. My future brothers-in-law. Hugo put a hand on James' shoulder, "The man is getting married. He is obviously a wreck." "I-Is it that obvious," I let out a deflated chuckle. Hugo laughed, "You forget how bad I was on my wedding day. I almost tore a hole in the floor with how much I was pacing. Being nervous is natural, but once you see Amber it's all gonna go away." "I doubt that," I whispered. Hugo moved closer to me, "Des, I swear if you are still terrified after you see Amber today I promise you, I will pay for you honeymoon in full." I took a deep breath, "Alright, but Amber has some big ideas that are definitely going to be expensive."
I walked down the aisle and waited for everyone to come down. First to walk down was Hugo and Clio, their significant others were best man and maid of honor, then came Hildegard and Zandar, we became close at the school of Science and Alchemy, after them came Sofia and James. The music changed and I waited until I saw Amber and King Rolland begin walking down the aisle. She took my breath away with one glance and Hugo was right, all the nerves just disappeared in that moment. She reached the end of the aisle and her Dad began the ceremony. "Princess Amber and Prince Desmond decided to add an additional part to the ceremony," He said towards the end of the ceremony. He lifted up the two ribbons we had tied to our wrists, "These ribbons represent their commitment to one another as they join together their families, their lives and their kingdoms." He tied the ribbons together, "From this day forth, these two will be a team, they promise to look out for one another and to never leave one another." I smiled at this. The ceremony continued and soon we were married.
(Amber POV)
- a week later -
"Amber where are you taking me?" He asked as I pulled his arm through the hallways of the castle. Finally we reached our destination, "Remember when I once asked you if you would be willing to stay here with me?" He nodded his head. I opened the door to the new suite. He looked around. I had one of the walls lined up with book shelves. I had a smaller telescope on the balcony. There was a bed against the far wall and room for both of our belongings. "I know that there is still room to work with and I'm sure you are going to want some of your own stuff but..." He turned to face me and pulled me in close, "God, I love you." He kissed me and I leaned in and kissed him back. "I'm never going to leave you," I said onto his lips. He smiled, "Nor I you." We moved over to the bed and enjoyed our night together.
The next morning I woke up and looked over at Des, "Morning." "Good morning," he spoke down to me. I leaned into his shoulder, "We don't have anything important this morning, right?" He asked. I shook my head, "No my parents gave us the morning off and Parliament is handling things in Coumure for the next couple of days." "Des, do you ever think about our future?" I looked up at him, "What do you mean?" "I mean after we become King and Queen do you think about our future family?" He looked down at me, "Do you?" "Sometimes, I wonder what they would act like. What they would get from each of us. What they are going to look like." "Well I never thought two much about it, I just know that I never want my kid to be alone. I grew up without any siblings, my parents didn't want to be parents, the servants were in and out, it was lonely for a long time before I went to Royal Prep. If my kid never feels like that I'll know I did something right." "Our," I whispered. "What?" "You said 'my kid,' it is going to be our kid. Just letting you know we are definitely having more than one, that is non-negotiable." I laughed. "Alright." I snuggled deeper into his arm, "No more than three kids though." He laughed, "Whatever you want. If our kids get even a fraction of your personality they are going to be set." I laughed at this, "That along with your brain, yes they will."
