A meteor shower

It was a lovely night, a gentle breeze blew through the barren trees. It had been a chilly winter, however the snow had finally thawed, and allowed the grass to grow. One after another, meteors began to light up the sky, shooting across the scene like raindrops. It was unscheduled, but a delight to behold after the harsh cold.

One meteor landed in the forest. At least, that's what many wrote it off to being.
One curious scientist decided to investigate the situation. A slight shifting within the rock made the situation much more troubling and confusing. Was there something alive within the presumably hollow rock? Is it actually alive still? Is it safe to extract?

Test tube pondered these questions, as she returned with a few friends, and acquaintances. When she began to explain this situation, Cabby placed her hand on the meteor curiously, before cutting her off. "This is no meteorite. This is a fragment of the moon. And whatever you were hearing was likely audio ha-" the scratching inside the rock began again, cutting Cabby off. "What was that-!?" Fan began to panic, clinging to the nearest person, who was not very enthusiastic about the sudden grab. "It was probably a- squirrel or some-" Paintbrush attempted to justify the noise.

"That was no squirrel." Test tube stated, as she places her hand on the moon fragment. "There is something alive in there, yes. But there's no possible entry point for it! Whatever it is, it was already in there, when it broke off the moon." Test tube states, as she pulls out a device. "And I intend to get a look at what it is." The device is placed against the rocky surface. "This device will make a image of the inside of this fragment, allowing us to see-"

The train of thought was lost as the device turns on, beginning to scan the inside. "Allowing us to see the inside of the fragment, and understand what we are dealing with." Test tube resumes, as the device begins to generate the image. "So, what will we do when it's generated? Will we, let it out?" Fan questioned. "It depends on how developed it is" Test tube stated, as the photo developed. She took the image, and looked at it. Her neutral expression wavered to shock at the sight.

It was fully developed, it's hands pressed against the rock of the fragment. It was small. "It... is developed... it's small-" Test tube stated, as Cabby took the image, looking at it. "... and it's hands are... directly on the rock. It's alive, all right." She stated, as the scratching resumed.

"What do we do, Test tube-?" Paint brush questioned, as Fan grabbed the image to see. "It.... seems to be acting as some bizarre egg, and the... creature... is fully developed. I believe it would be safest for it, and a good subject to study." Test tube stated, as Fan looks at her "is this image to scale-?" "Obviously not, Fan, that'd be ridiculous." Cabby stated, irritated. "Well, it's certainly... small. Is it possible it's a baby-?"

"Well that's my theory." Test tube stated, taking out the equipment for safe extraction. She walked to the other side of the fragment, beginning to extract it. The scratching ceased, and resumed at the side Test tube was attempting to extract. "Uh, can someone distract it? It's interfering with the extraction." She stated. Fan placed his hand on the fragment. The scratching stopped, as the creature began scratching where Fans hand was. "Hehe, it kind of tickles."

It took awhile for the hole to be large enough to extract it. It was indeed small, appearing to be a child. Fan was the first to interact with it, picking it up. "Oh, hello there little one-!" He started, as the creature began to struggle against him. "Um- Fan I wouldn't hold it like that-" Test tube warned, as Fan held it close to himself, like you would a child. "I'll name her Moonstone, because she came from the moon." Fan said cheerfully.

"Fan- you didn't just-" Cabby stated, and Test Tube facepalmed. "He did..." "See, she's calmed down." Fan said, as the brief flailing exhausted the creature, resulting in it falling asleep. "D'aww, it's all dangly!" Paintbrush cooed, watching how the creatures previously flailing limbs went limp. "Yeah, she's so cute" Fan said, cuddling the creature gently.

"I... suppose now Fan won't leave its side, huh?" Cabby asked, reviewing her file on Fan, finding her answer. "Yup, unless he finds someone he trusts enough to trust with it-" "HER." Fan stated, glancing at Test tube with irritation. He began to walk back to the hotel. "Well, we're stuck with i- her now." Paintbrush stated, following Fan closely.

"... I'll stay here and take samples, you analyze it- um, Moonstones behavior." Test tube stated, as Cabby looked at her. "I... okay then. I suppose I do have a spare file to fill..." Cabby began to return to the hotel, beginning to write in the file.
