The flight to the Avengers tower was long, but okay. The boys sat on either side of you, and even though one was taller than you, you held onto them like they were small and precious. They both leaned on your shoulders and slept, temporary bandages over their wounds until they were able to get the bullets removed. Black Widow, who insisted on being called Natasha, sat across from you, not speaking. She knew what you were thinking. You weren't celebrating your win against the Hydra thugs, and were instead thinking about your school.
Your friends... Gone.
No one tried to offer support. They knew it was hopeless to try, and instead left you and the boys to yourselves. You would have felt lucky for being alive still, but the crashing weight of guilt would have crushed any remotely happy feeling you had.
As far as you knew, you were one of the only survivors. Anyone else either left another way or never made it out. You hoped your parents never came to get you. They may have also been attacked, because you had no idea how the horde of students was attacked. Maybe Hydra forced students to do the bombings as well. They may have forced more to attack anyone else who showed up.
You couldn't help but feel like you should have died with them, but instead you selfishly saved your life before anyone else's. You didn't cry anymore though. You needed to be strong for the boys.
The male with the platinum hair, or as he had been introduced to you, Pietro, sat beside one of the boys and glanced at you. The woman, Wanda, also his twin sister watched on.
"Are you okay?" He asked, receiving a small shake of the head for an answer. "Do you need anything?" You shook your head again. Yes I do. I need a hug. I need several hugs. Nat had told him about the Nyctomancy, more like told everyone. She said she needed to, so everyone knew what happened on the ground. You didn't mind. It made sense to anyway.
He gave you a soft smile, which you returned with an obvious fake one. He saw that as a sign to leave you alone.
Not long after, you fell asleep, which is when the nightmares began. You knew you were going to have nightmares. Anything as bad as your school exploding was going to give you nightmares.
Your shaking woke up the boys, which left them alarmed. They kept trying to wake you up, which only worked when you dreamt that you were about to explode. You jolted awake, breathing heavily and in a cold sweat. Tears welled in your eyes, but you refused to let them fall. You wouldn't let them see you cry. Instead, you pulled them in for a hug.
Not long after this, you arrived at the tower. You held the boys hands as you walked towards the lab, where the boys had the bullets in their wounds removed, and you watched on. The only scars you held were emotional, that and a bruise on your hip from when the thug threw you into the truck.
The Avengers tower was huge, with enough extra rooms for you to stay in. The boys each had their own, and Tony Stark supplied each of you with some pyjamas from god knows where.
Pietro and Wanda offered the most support, as something like this happened to them when they were only 10 years old, but instead of their friends and classmates, it was their parents and home they lost.
Nat had promised that she'd attempt to get in contact with everyone's parents the next day, and for the boys sakes, you hoped she did. The boys went to bed long before you did, as you forced them too. They were okay with that. The girl who had run out with them was their older sister, unbeknownst to you. She was also your age, making it easy for them to warm up to you.
To distract yourself, you were in Stark's main laboratory, watching him work on an iron man suit. Dr Banner was playing with some other piece of technology. Neither of them minded you being in there, as long as you weren't breaking anything. You weren't, of course. You were just sitting on a bench, silently watching them work. A few of the other avengers had left to investigate the school, and a few had chosen to stay with you. The twins, being the most obvious.
