Chapter 12
You held your hands together around the discarded pipe. This mission was going somewhat poorly, with both Hawkeye and Cap having to be extracted from the field. You stood behind a tree, hiding from the approaching gunmen. Your the cuffs on your wrists were freezing with the amount of death in the air. Whatever Hydra was doing at this base certainly wasn't good.

You glimpsed Pietro hiding nearby, staring at you with fear in his eyes. He wasn't staring at you though, more like what was behind you. You turned, coming to face a large mech, with a solider inside. The soldier's grin was wicked, malicious and murderous. He aimed the large gun on the mech's shoulder at you, and behind you, Pietro cried out as the gun went off-

You sat up, breathing heavily. You were no longer in the snowy alps of Switzerland, but were in your bedroom in New York. Cold sweat trickled down your forehead. You looked at your clock, wincing at the still relatively early time of midnight. You'd only been asleep for an hour, yet it felt like seven. Throwing off the covers, you started pacing around the room, just like you always did. You attempted to get your breathing back under control. Damn nightmares.

You paced back and forth. This wasn't the first time that week that you'd had a nightmare, but it still made no difference. Mentally cursing yourself, you went to your door. Would Pietro still be awake? You knew it was cheesy, wanting him to hug until you went back to sleep, but it just felt right. You stepped into the dark hallway quietly, hoping no one else was still awake and making their way down the hall towards you. As you got to the speedster's door, you hesitated to knock. He himself was just opening it. He looked surprised to see you standing their, as it was usually him at your door.

It so turned out, he was getting up to get a drink, so you joined him. He didn't ask why you were standing at his door. He must have already knew. Some of the others, like Nat, Dr. Banner, Thor and Tony were still awake and in the living room. When you and Pietro both entered in your pyjamas, they looked up from the screen Tony was holding.

"Is it international pyjama night?" He asked sarcastically, You glared at him, but before you got a chance to swear at him, Pietro intervened.

"I'm getting a drink." He said. "And snacks. We're watching a movie." He half-lied. You glanced up at him, and he gave you an almost unnoticeable shrug.

"What movie?"

"Silent Hill 2." You cut in. Tony nodded, looking back down at the screen. You heard Thor ask him what it was, and Tony laughed quietly, beginning to explain the horror movie to the God. You and Pietro made your way over to the kitchen. He dug into the fridge for his massive bottle of soda, pulling it out.

"What were you doing up?" He asked quietly.

"Nightmare." He nodded, making his habit of no longer asking if you wanted to talk about it apparent.

"And you came to me?"

"Yeah, I know... Pretty childish..." You sighed. He chuckled.

"No." He said, leaving the fridge, arms laden with leftover pizza boxes and soda. "It's cute. Though, we probably shouldn't watch something that'll give us both nightmares." Oh, well. He'd been serious about the movie thing.

"Pfft, Silent Hill ain't even scary. It's just stupid monsters in 'creepy' places like motels, asylums, carnivals or mannequin factories." You told him. You'd seen the movie before, but didn't mind it. Pietro didn't like it though, obviously. You helped him carry the snacks back to his room, quietly joking along the way.

You opened the door for him, and he grabbed your laptop from his desk. You'd lent it to him so he could watch some movies. As he placed the snacks onto his bed and slid under the covers, you joined him. It took him a moment to find the movie, but as soon as it started, you were snuggling up to him.
