"It's been a week Gin you can't keep this up!" Her hair seems even more red as I finally confront her.

"Oh can I not?" I scoff at the response. This seems so petty to me. "What. What do you have to say?"

"Nothing Gin, you need to figure out what is wrong with you because this, it's not about me." As I walk away I feel rage bubbling in me. She's always been able to talk to me. I just can't figure out what's going on with her. I attempt to shake my hands hoping that somehow this anger bottled up inside me will go away.

Despite my expectations, my year so far has consisted of detentions with Snape and never ending homework. As I keep on walking I somehow find myself at the astronomy tower. I don't even remember climbing that many stairs. As I look around I see a globe in the middle of the room with metal encompassing it. As I go deeper into the room to look at the view I see students laughing while others silently doing homework. It seems I instantaneously sag as I feel the anger subside inside me.

"People watching always calm me down too." I whip around to see Daphne staring back at me.

"Jesus Daphne!" Her eyebrows raise at my outburst.

"Come on, we're going." I stumble behind her as she starts walking.

"Where are we going exactly?"

"The Slytherin dungeons, I want to show you something." I think my eyebrows are in my hairline.

"What exactly are you showing me?" She doesn't answer, all she does is look over her shoulder and smile.

________

When Daphne says the password I realize she trusts me to not blab it to the Gryffindors, it surprises me. How can she and Harper be so completely different? Daphne is trusting me now while Harper acted like I was nothing. Which version of Slytherins are true? Which version could I trust? Daphne pushes the door open and inside I see a beautiful common room. There is a blueish green tint the whole area, while every piece of furniture is covered in green. There's huge windows that are covered with water making the reflection shimmer. There's some students hunched over at a table studying while I see others play a game of exploding snaps.

"It's beautiful here." Daphne already seemed to be assessing what I was going to say and seemed to be pleased by my response.

"It is, now let's go to my dorm, you're gonna love this." Daphne has me like a dog on a leash and right now I can't do a damned thing about it. People look over at me twice as my contradicting red and gold flys by them but surprisingly they don't say anything. We go up the stairs and it seems that whatever Daphne wants to show me she's excited to, she seems to be running up the stairs.

In the same way the common room was full of green, her dorm is no different. The walls almost hover over the banisters of the bed arching over the curtains. All of the girls' trunks are in front of their corresponding beds.

"This one is mine." She points to the bed on her right.

"So what did you want to show me?" She peeks up as if forgetting why she brought me here at all. She quickly jumps into action opening up her trunk ruffling through her things.

"You're going to wrinkle your clothes!" She shrugs me off then lets out an 'ahhh' sound from her mouth.

"Here, this is it! Come here, come sit." I quickly followed her word. Once I plop myself on her bed she shoves an old book into my hands. I turn the book over its brown and looks worn to all hell. As my hand feels over the top of the book I feel ridges. I lift my head giving her a questionable look.

"Oh ya right, you have no idea what this is, this is a grimoire. Every pureblood family has at least one of these, it's a book full of spells." While she explained this all I opened the page to see drawings and pages filled with words.

"Wouldn't this just be the same as a book in the library then?"

"Oh gods no, these books are filled with centuries old magic. They also don't tell you to use your wand in every spell. It actually was uncommon to use wands for centuries. Some countries still don't" The information has my mind reeling. I don't have to use my wand to do magic?

"Why are you showing me this?" My voice is soft as I ask her.

"Well um, I saw your hands kind of freaking out on the train and I thought this could help. If I were you I would be terrified. And I mean when we first do magic it's without a wand. I'm going to let you borrow this, but I want you to know this is going to be difficult to master, that's why they prefer us using wands." I let out a small breath and tried not to break down. She's helping.

"Thank you." I look up at her and she's smiling at me.

"I'm gonna hug you now?" She leans over and hugs me ferociously. She smells like peppermint and her long blond hair gets in my eyes.

"Thanks." I mutter in her hair.

"You already said that." I let go of her and really looked at her. Her usual calculative stare isn't there. Her gaze is instead filled with a kindness I haven't seen before. She just stares at me with a lingering smile.

"Well you deserve it." I give her a small smile. She softens at my comment, lowering her head for a minute until she says.

"Well let's get you back before you cause even more of a scene. I do not need to hear from Pansy. She's already up my ass for talking to you."
