Chapter 5.

Another session with Evelyn, was Michael looking forward to it? Possibly, possibly not. The hulking man walked down the hallway with four guards surrounding him, hands and ankles chained. He didn't care much for the chains, knowing he could break them very easily if he wanted to.

But why didn't he? He could easily escape, kill these guards and run. Well, one thing stopped him. And that was Evelyn, for an odd reason he had taken a liking to her. She was the only one who had been kind to him in all his years at Smith's Grove sanitarium. But he couldn't possibly allow her to hold this much power over him. She didn't know it yet, but he'd do anything for her.

As he reached the room, he saw Evelyn sitting there flipping through papers on her clipboard. "Move it." One of the guards said, making Michael's hands clench into fists. But, he didn't want to lash out in front of Evelyn and scare her away.

Michael sat down across from Evelyn, and he saw her smile. That gorgeous smile of hers, he adored it. He adored her. You could even say he was smitten with her.

"Hello Michael, I hope your ready for another conversation." She said with a small sigh, getting her pen and paper ready. Michael only stared at her, could this woman really change him? Could she be the gateway to his redemption? Michael had no sense of right or wrong, but this girl....makes him feel different. Normal, if that's even the correct word.

"Now, we left off on your coping skills. I assume making masks is a way of...coping?" She asked, which made Michael tilt his head. He shook it after a moment, and Evelyn nodded slowly. "Then why do you make masks? Enlighten me, i'm curious." She said, writing something down.

Michael hummed in response, glancing down as she passed him a notepad. He very slowly took the pen, and scribbled down his answer. 'Halloween.' was all it said, as he passed it back to her.

"Halloween?" She questioned, but she pieced it together. Halloween, the night he became a murderer all those years ago. "Oh, nevermind I understand now." She muttered, writing something down again. She sighed, glancing up at him. She decided not to dwell on it, as she knew bringing up memories wasn't the way to go with Michael. She noticed how he stared some more, waiting for her next question.

Evelyn cleared her throat, her eyes wandering to his chained wrists. This was risky, but she was curious. "Michael...If I unchain your wrists, you won't hurt me, right?" She asked quietly, leaning forward slightly.

This definitely caught Michael's attention, his head tilted in an almost creepy way. Making her regret asking, but she had to be brave. She needed to see just how human he was. Michael slowly shook his head, but something inside him ignited. His hands balled up slightly, almost in anticipation that she seemed to not take notice of.

she stood up, slowly walking around the table and taking a pair of keys out of her pocket. She managed to snatch them from one of the guards earlier. Much to her surprise, she has yet to be questioned about the missing keys.

She leaned down, slowly unlocking his wrists one at a time. Once he was free from them, he immediately stood up, making her step back slightly. "Michael..?" She asked, but was abruptly met with being pushed up against a wall and her mouth covered by his enormous hand. "Shh." He ordered, making her slowly nod with widened eyes. Maybe this wasn't a good idea...
