Spring is everyone's favourite time of the year. Blooming flowers and the smell of old nostalgia in the air. Sakura blossoms gliding gracefully through the air, giving Shoko a chance to witness the beautiful ambiguity of a dream. Before the nightmares start, anyways.

Amidst the epitome of spring, Shoko Ieiri sat on the nearest bench, puffing smoke from her lips. It created a random cloudy pattern in the air before disappearing. She sat alone, watching her two best friends get into another one of their friendly quarrels.

Could it be called friendly if their after each others throats?

"I'm saying his for the last time, Satoru." Suguru Geto's voice sounded this time, an influx of angry cursed energy surrounding him.

"Give me back my Pokemon card, Satoru!"

"Come get it then, Suguru" Satoru Gojo's shot back, amusement lacing his voice as he held up Suguru's Pokemon card.

Satoru does get on people's nerves sometimes, doesn't he?

She blow out another puff of smoke from her cigarette.

"This is a no-smoking zone, miss." Another voice called out to her.

Shoko turned around and smiled. The onwer of the voice was none other than her favourite senior.

"Utahime-senpai." She said as she watched her favourite senpai walk closer.
Utahime came and sat down on the bench beside Shoko, as our first year made space for her.

"Fighting again, I see?" Her senpai asked, docking her head to the side.

"They'll calm down later on." Shoko replied as her pressed her cigarette stud on the armrest of the bench.

"Give me back my Charizard Vmax, Satoru!"

"Catch me if you can, Suguru!"

Suguru, standing on top of a flying Stingray like cursed spirit, launched at Satoru from above. Which Satoru did dodge, of course.

Utahime let out a heavy sigh.

"I don't really get to see you these days, senpai."

"I'm working on my promotion, actually."

Both the girls watched the two boy's antics for a little more while.

" I don't ever see you take a walk either." Utahime initiated the conversation again.

" Too many casualties. At least the cursed spirits like taking a vacation like us during spring." Shoko said.

Utahime looked up at the sky, watching the clouds move from under the branches of the Sakura tree. Her next question caught shoko off guard.

"What does spring smell like to you, shoko?"

"Huh?"

Shoko craned her neck above to stare at the clear sky like her senpai.

"All seasons smell like cigarettes to me." Shoko said, after a deep thought.

"What about you, senpai?"

"Spring smells like love to me."

Both the girls sat in silence, the older catching fallen blossoms in her hand while the younger looked on.

"Love?" Shoko thought out aloud.

"Spring is the only time of the year when sorcerers get to appreciate their surroundings, Shoko. The air, The trees, The flowers all deserve to be loved. And Sometimes... " Utahime took a pause, and then continued " sometimes we just forget about them. They disappear from our consciousness."
