"Look, you can't go."
________Ainsley picked at the food on her plate, unsatisfied. She loved her mother's cooking, sure, but something was wrong. As an instinct she looked up at Five to see his eyes already peering into hers. Her eyes squinted for a millisecond- as if to try and communicate with her eyes. He only raised his brows. She'd talk with him later.
After the group was dismissed, she headed to Five's room before going to hers. Something was off. He hadn't said a word to her at all since training. Had she done something? She couldn't recall doing anything to upset the boy.
The girl leaned on his door frame, waiting for him to notice her. "What do you need?" His voice had snapped her out of her thoughts. She swallowed the lump in her throat before grumbling lowly, "You haven't spoken to me." He looked up at her, furrowing his brows. "I've talked to you all morning." He mumbled, looking back at his desk. "Five, you're not stupid- I'm not stupid." The boy huffs, knowing she wasn't going to stop.
"Okay, you're gonna want to sit." He motions for her to sit on his bed. She sat, intrigued. He sat down next to her; she stared down at her fingers. She felt uncomfortable with this tension that she hadn't known where it had come from.
"I'm going to leave."
"What?"
"I'm going to time travel."
The brunette girl huffs. He was at it again. They've had this conversation many times before. She was very against the idea. She thought he hadn't had enough experience to leave just yet. That was what half of the reason was, the main, huge reason was she whole heartedly believed that she couldn't come with.
When they were younger, they promised one another that they'd stick together. Mainly, because she didn't think she could live on her own. Five didn't want to live without her. It'd be odd.
"Look, you can't go." Five raised his brows and scoffed. "I've told you. I'll take you with me."
She rolled her eyes and spoke once more- more softly this time. "Five." The way she uttered his name had pulled the strings to his heart. "Where would you go- when will you go? You're only 15! You have no job! You have no school records! What do you seriously think you're going to accomplish?"He hadn't thought about that. This is why he needed her. Sure, he was intelligent but she was his guide. She made sure he was doing everything correctly. She made sure he was okay. She was half of him. He refused to leave without her..that's why he wouldn't let the topic go. He wants to go so badly. As of now his mouth stayed shut, not having anything to say.
"I care about you, you know this. Even if I could...I can't go with you."
His jaw clenched, not in anger. Her words tugged at his heart in a painful manner. He wanted her to just let go and run off with him. Yet, he knew that she would never think about him the way he thinks of her. He looks away from her, his hands picking at the skin around his nails. He just wanted her to love him. Yes, she loves him- but not in the way he wants her too. Scratch that- needs her too.
________
AUTHOR'S NOTEA little context info is that Five knows that Ainsley doesn't have any romantic feelings towards him yet.
He knows he has those feelings, but won't act on them out of fear of losing her. It's basic I know.
Anyway- have an amazing night or day! :))
