chapter seven (misconceptions)

= John PoV =

I have been going through hard and demanding training for the third week here, each individual member of my team gives me a good amount of work, if the rest of the team is not on a mission I train with the rest of the recruits, but unlike the local recruits I have practically no time to rest, since this morning I have been training with improved suits that gave the furs a considerable advantage, it wouldn't have been such a problem if Sharon hadn't trained me

Sharon: are you going to stand there much longer?

I woke up from my reverie to realize that I was standing in the middle of a training hall, unlike an ordinary gym, this one was filled with all kinds of scaffolding to create a complicated training track, I've been running here for 10 hours today

Sharon: if you don't move I'll kick your ass so hard you'll fly through the wall

i sullenly looked at my watch it glowed and offered me to launch the power up suit, after launching it the suit was so heavy and easier to move around with

Sharon : make it better than your last time idiot

each team has a different route, the sniper has to get to the top and take a shooting position, the medic has to run the whole route with added weight, the scout has to press several buttons along the way, I have to reach the end of the route and defuse the fake explosive before the time runs out

Sharon : 3....2.....1......move your ass

I ran to the first obstacle, which was an iron wall, we activated the magnetic gloves and climbed up, but my journey was far from over there, the next one was walking along a narrowed space, which I was able to do without looking down, then using several horizontal bars to jump over the hole , followed by a deep jump where my suit slowed down the fall with the help of smaller jets, followed by a holographic maze that kept changing and after moving over several obstacles I pulled through a very tight gap where my suit helped me again because it compressed my body so I wouldn't problem to pass, finally I was at the bomb, I still had time exactly 3 minutes and 24 seconds, I cut the wires in a few seconds, the horn was heard and announced the end of my run, I breathed deeply because running, as always, takes a good part of my energy, I sat up and looked at Sharon who was angrily looking at the stopwatch on her watch

Sharon: 3 seconds and 2 hundredths worse

out of breath or energy, I jumped off the track and landed on my knees

John: I've had enough please, can I rest?

Sharon didn't answer me, she just came to me, grabbed my arm and twisted her to make me stand up

Sharon : with this time on the mission we're all going to die and I honestly don't feel comfortable dying with someone like you, so AGAIN, RUN

I went to get ready even though I know that I will probably fall in the middle of the journey and not get up again, Sharon was ready to start the time again but then someone entered the hall with a loud laugh

Jasslin: fuck me, I wouldn't expect you here

it was Jasslin, my rage against her knew no bounds but I couldn't do anything just because the suit gives me an advantage but she can manipulate it better than me

Sharon: madam, what an honor, what do we owe for your presence?

Jasslin just smiled and looked behind her, Olya walked past her in full armor like me
