"Thornpaw, from this day forward you will be known as Thornpelt. SunClan honors your strength and independence." Thornpelt felt his new surging through his body as he approached Foxstar, rasping his tongue over the leader's shoulder as he felt Foxstar's muzzle on his forehead. He stepped back to his position in line, he saw that Nightwing and Hawktalon had pride burning deep in their eyes but Falconclaw didn't seem to have any scraps of pride on his face.

Thornpelt sat down as Foxstar continued to name the remainder of his siblings as well as Flowerpaw. In the end, Foxstar finished and the Clan was eager to cheer the names of six new warriors. "Tigertail! Bramblepelt! Thornpelt! Crowfur! Rainears! Flowerpelt!" Thornpelt raised his head, taking in the praise and pride of his Clanmates. He felt as if he had worked harder than any other warrior, the scars that lined his pelt proved this.

For a moment his gaze drifted to Flowerpelt and he felt his heart skip for a moment. She had grown into a truly beautiful warrior. The sun reflected across her pale gray pelt and she held her head as she celebrated with Owlfoot and her family. He had missed getting to train with her, he had been forced to train in isolation most times while he watched Flowerpelt grow from the sidelines. Even with the injury of her hind leg she never let it stop her from reaching her dreams.

Falconclaw had a strong hatred for kittypets, and that included Flowerpelt and her sister Stormwind for being half-kittypets. Thornpelt agreed that kittypets could never be warriors, he even had his doubts about their mother Dovewish. She never seemed to quite fit in, but he didn't share Falconclaw's ideals about Flowerpelt. She was a beautiful, powerful warrior. The two of them had made a deal, one that if either of them became leader then they would make the other deputy.

He had been having dreams about that future, about leading SunClan with Flowerpelt at his side. He had even been considering the two of them becoming mates, he was young and they had a lot of time, but he also knew that Falconclaw would never stand for something like that. He looked at Flowerpelt and Stormwind with such vitriolic hatred in his eyes. At some points his glares seemed...dangerous.

Thornpelt knew that Falconclaw had killed before, he had killed other Clan cats but surely he wouldn't do something as drastic as killing one of his Clanmates. Falconclaw was a lot of things, but Thornpelt didn't think he was truly a murderer.

"What are you staring at?" Thornpelt heard the voice of Rainears. Thornpelt pulled his gaze away from Flowerpelt and met his sister's. "Are you staring at Flowerpelt." She teased and Thornpelt instantly felt his pelt heating up.

"Shut up." He flicked his tail over her nose. "We're warriors, we don't have time to talk like that."

Rainears shared a glance with Crowfur and the two of them snickered. "Sure, but you keep looking at her like the sun shines out of her tail." Crowfur added, flicking his nose in return.

"She's a good warrior." Thornpelt hissed and cause the gaze of Falconclaw standing a few taillengths away. He had the usual hatred burning in his eyes that was directed at Flowerpelt but this time at him. Thornpelt felt a shiver creep up his spine. "We need to prepare for our vigil. Stop joking around." He turned his back on his siblings as they continued to tease him. Would Falconclaw really hurt me if I became mates with her? He looked at the scars lacing his pelt, he knew that Falconclaw wasn't above hurting him. He sighed quietly, he couldn't think about that right now. He needed to focus on the vigil, he would worry about Flowerpelt later.

"You're done." Mallownose spoke giving the six warriors a nod. "You did well, get some rest."

"Thank you, Mallownose." Flowerpelt dipped her head respectfully towards the SunClan deputy. He heard a loud yawn from Bramblepelt but he didn't feel the same exhaustion. This felt like light work compared to the training he had been doing during his entire apprenticeship. He followed his siblings and Flowerpelt towards the apprentice den where they would still be sleeping despite earning their warrior names. SunClan just had a surplus of warriors, and there was no room for them in the warrior's den.
