Gore Bay, Canada
Xavier sat in a chair inside of his new home in Gore Bay, a small community inside of southern Canada. He registered this house under the name; Michael Kings. He was just thinking about life in general at the moment.
He asked questions like; Was this all worth it?
But everytime his mind asked, he answered; Yes. Yes it was.
Xavier, tired of thinking, sat up out of this chair. He stared across the room at the woman across from it. She looked back.
"Something wrong?" She asked.
The woman was Maggie.
Xavier chuckled; "No. I have to go soon."
"Where?" Maggie asked
"I'm just saying farewells."
"Oh, okay."
He stood and walked toward the door.
"Hey." She prompted.
Xavier looked at her; "Hm?"
"Why'd you choose the name Michael?"
"Uhm, when I was a kid people said I looked like a Michael back in school. I guess it fits."
Maggie chuckled; "Okay. Goodbye."
Xavier waved as he opened the door and walked out.
* * *
Clover and Xavier approached each other right outside of a college campus. Xavier had earbuds in. He had picked up Clover's habit. He was listening to Shape of My Heart by Sting. They finally reached each other and started to talk.
"So, this is it, I guess." Xavier said.
"Yep, I guess it is." Clover answered affirmatively.
He deals the cards as a meditation
"You'll be going to college. As you wished to do."
And those he plays never suspect
"I sure did, and... I'm here now. Studying English."
He doesn't play for the money he wins
"Yep, I did what I wished, too. Just gotta keep going."
He don't play for respect
"You're right. I got my money. I can finally afford to go here. You helped my wishes. You killed Rich for me."
He deals the cards to find the answer
"Most colleges are just expensive, I guess." Xavier chuckled.
The sacred geometry of chance
"Trust me, my family knows. We've always been pressured to go to college."
The hidden law of a probable outcome
"I was gonna say something, but I'm not gonna say. Anyway, I'll reach out to you when I can."
The numbers lead a dance
"I will too."
I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
Xavier reached his hand out, and Clover did too. They both shook hands.
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
"It's been a pleasure doing work with you." Xavier prompted.
"You too, honey." Clover responded.
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart
Xavier and Clover walked away from each, on their way onto their own destiny. Whether Xavier's destiny was getting revenge, or Clover's was to go to college, or possibly get revenge for her mother too, which brung Xavier to another moral dilemma. He had come to the realization a while ago that he was the killer of Clover's mother. Rich didn't kill her, he did, but out of spite and desperation.
But he shoved that back into his past, for now, he had a life to live. He had a friend to tend to back at home. He had 22 years to make up.
And he promised to start now.
