He silently closed her door behind him, his mind quizzing over his actions just now.

"Whatcha doing ?!"
"Bloody Hell! Dammnit!.. Lucas! Do not startle me like that ."

Gabriel slouched his body as he held his heart, watching Lucas' grinning figure resting across the railing of the stairs.

Gabriel shot an irritated glance at his brother and headed towards his room in the attic, with Lucas following closely.

The attic space was intended to serve as his office and gym, but he had found himself sleeping on the couch by the expansive windows far more often than in his actual bed downstairs.

Lucas slumped on the huge couch by the floor-to-ceiling window as Gabriel drew the binds, welcoming light into his study.

"Sooo.. about that night. Well— I just wanted to .."

" Get to it Lucas, the world is growing old." Gabriel intersected his brother's mumbling.

They were very acquainted with each other's behavior and style as it had just been the two of them watching out for each other since their Father passed away in their young years. They were just 15 and 9 at the time.

Their guidance was in the hand of their sinister uncle who demandly assumed their roles as leader of their pack. In the eyes of the people, their uncle executed the role of a loving father, but behind the curtains, he desperately aimed to get rid of them without being suspected.

The boys learned to suck up to his tenacity and demands as they were yet too young to fight back.

During his reign, the pack house was quite empty, so no one could observe his treatment of the boys. The few who lived in the house were either too loyal or enslaved to him to say anything about the way he treated them.

There were hungry nights and long days of standing under the sunshine, either for shouting in the house or simply just existing.

At 21 and 27, three years ago, when the boys had gathered enough support and strength, they finally overthrew their uncle, taking their inherited roles as Alpha and Beta.

Gabriel practically raised his brother.
Lucas looked up to him for guidance as he always had leadership in him.
On the other hand, Lucas also learned to look out for his brother's emotional state, knowing very well the level of the burden his big brother undertook for their pack left him no luxury to care for his own.
It was the Alpha's job to build a wall and always stand strong.

So, that moment as Lucas stumbled out his words, he knew the impending conversation would undoubtedly drive his brother; Gabrie,l to end it before it had even had a chance to begin and the latter knew that said conversation would either launch him into annoyance, or discomfort.

"Well, if you must have that way Gabriel; I just wanted to talk about you kissing a certain green eye girl"

Gabriel inconspicuously stumbled in his steps to his desk at his brother's words.

As he got seated behind his desk, he closed his eyes as the memory replayed {not that it ever stopped for a second}

"I mean" —Lucas continued– " I know we were in hot water that night, but I don't think kissing your blood enemy was the only way to stop the chaos, except there was something else..."

"Lucas" Gabriel called in a warning tone. His nose flared in anger.

"Was it passion Gabriel? Desire? "---Lucas paused. unfazed by his bother's change in mood — "A strong pull ?"

"You are blatantly insane. You do know she is another breed right ?"

"So what? Mike was mated to Diana  and she was a blue moon wolf." Lucas retaliated.
