POV Floyd
"They're already there, Red" Bliss' words keep going through my mind "one..."
How?
Everest was here the whole time.
"Zeke?" I hear Everest ask her fiancé on the phone.
"Kill them all, keep her safe at all costs" he answers her.
That is exactly what I was trying to do, and somehow that did not work.
"Two..."
Why is he counting?
I look at Mavis, and then back to my screen.
"Three" he says.
"You— you are coming with us" someone says behind me.
I turn around and look at a boy my age, an older man is standing behind him.
"What—" Mavis's sentence is interrupted by the boy who puts a cloth over her mouth after he took off her face mask.
"No!" Everest says and stands up "stay away from her!"
I look at Mavis, the boy takes the cloth away and looks at me "You know that you can't do anything anymore, boy".
"Mavis, look at me, can you hear me?" I force her to look at me.
"A little bit, yes" she says, her voice sounds sleepy "what was that?".
"Chloroform" a voice says. I look up. Bliss closes his laptop and grins at me before he looks at Mavis "it's gonna make you fall asleep so we don't have to hurt you".
"Stay awake, Mave" I say to her.
Her eyes slowly start to close, she looks at me "I'm scared, Fl—".
I put my finger on her lips "Red, it's Red, Mave".
She nods slowly.
"I know you're scared" I look at Everest who is trying to keep the two boys away from us.
She's fighting with them, but doesn't stand a chance against the two much stronger and better trained boys.
"We're protecting you, everything is going to be alright".
I don't understand, where are the teachers when you need them?
I can't fight, I can hack, the gun is only a threat, I can't shoot, and I can't fight.
I can't do anything to help her right now.
I hear a scream, I look at Everest. She's getting thrown to the floor.
She has to wait.
I look at Mavis, her eyes are closed. She starts to fall down, but I hold her back so she won't fall hard.
I take my gun and point it at one of the boys who are walking towards us.
My hand is shaking.
He laughs "Good try, little hacker, we know that you're too scared to do that, she's coming with us".
"Leave her alone, she did nothing wrong".
They don't answer, they only take Mavis out of my hands and carry her out the room.
Bliss looks at me "We'll see you soon, Red" he says and follows the boys.
A knife flys straight past me "Fuck!" Everest yells.
She pushes herself up and looks under her hand. There is blood, a lot of blood.
"We're going home" she says and picks up the knife she just threw.
