Serkan entered the house late afternoon, tired after yet another, longer than it was supposed to be, day of work. He rubbed his forehead, kicked off his shoes, and put his phone and keys on the stand next to the door.
Serkan glanced toward the living room, taking off his coat and hanging it on the hanger in the closet. The house was quiet, and the lights weren't up even if it had already started to get dark outside.
He walked through the hall, wanting to go upstairs to look for his girls in the master bedroom or nursery when from the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of his favorite sight in the world.
He smiled, turning to walk behind the couch to the space between a coffee table and French doors, where they set up a small playground for Kiraz with her pink baby gym and big mate in matching color with the pattern of little, dressed up bears.
Right there, in the middle of a soft blanket, Eda and Kiraz were sleeping soundly, and Kiraz was even snoring while Eda was lying on her side, holding the baby's little hand, keeping one finger in her tiny fist.
Serkan smiled even brighter, approaching them quietly on his toes. He put his jacket on the back of the couch and loosened his tie before he laid down on the blanket next to Eda and embraced her tight, spooning her from behind. He kissed the back of her head and closed his eyes. He didn't want to risk giving his daughter a greeting kiss not to wake her up and bring upon himself the wrath of his lovely and mostly very sweet and loving wife, but at times turning into unstoppable angry menace.
Eda smiled when Serkan lay down next to her and put his face into her hair, how he always liked to sleep from the very beginning of the start of their relationship, but she didn't stir or open her eyes to let him know she was awake. She spent the whole afternoon trying to entertain her bored and clearly unimpressed by dedicated to her age toys daughter until the infant finally fell asleep, probably from boredom, observing a black and white stuffed cat, so now Eda wasn't willing to move until the next feeding.
Fortunately, her husband knows how to behave in the room with the newborn, not yelling from the door to announce his return home or making any unnecessary noises. She loved him and their daughter the most in the world, but if he would wake up their baby, she would just leave the house to seek an hour of silence without any screams, cries, and whimpers.
Eda listened to Kiraz's snoring and Serkan's strongly beating heart as his chest was pressed tightly to her back. She smiled even brighter, feeling utter happiness. At moments like this, she was having a hard time believing that her life turned out to be so happy and everything was coming so easy to her when she was with Serkan. She was lucky all those years ago that fate put him on her path. She couldn't imagine a life where she wouldn't meet him, and they wouldn't be together.
If someone would tell twenty-one-years-old Eda, when she was forced by her family to board the plane from Italy to England, that just in a couple of hours she would meet not only the hottest man on the earth, but also her soon-to-be husband, the love of her life, and soulmate, who would help her overcome all her demons and would show her how to live life to the fullest, she most likely would laugh at that person face and probably tired to run from the airport in England, just to avoid her destiny, saying that it was a bunch of crap and fairytales for children.
But now her present self, who at the moment was enjoying the strong arms of the man she didn't even dream of existing, would go to put or even throw herself into that plane, telling the old Eda to shut up, stop being such an ungrateful brat and don't screw it too much with Serkan.
Eda sighed, feeling bliss, and moved slightly her foot to push it between Serkan's legs. His rhythmic, deep breath told her he had fallen asleep. She knew he was tired. They both were exhausted. Their little bundle of love was definitely making them run for their money, not liking to be left without attention not even for a second, announcing with loud cries that at least one of her parents had to hoover over her all the time she was awake.
