Pansy and looked at the plain dark red dress hanging from the mirror in front of us.

"That looks... nice..."

I shook my head and stuck the torn out page from my notebook to the mirror.

"It's boring and patchy at the bottom. That's why I'm going to change it. I've been sewing since I was little so I can do it. I can even add some details to your dress if you want."

"I might take you up on that offer. But you've got more to do for your own dress so don't worry about it. Have you told Mattheo what colour you're wearing?"

"No. Why would I do that?"

"Cause dates usually match colours for their outfits. Have you never been to a formal occasion before?"

I was now kneeling on the floor, beginning to pin up the dress, and gave Pansy a deadpan look.

"Ok fine, sorry. But still you should know this."

"Fine. I'll tell him tomorrow."

"I'm going to go hang out with Blaise so I can tell him now if you want."

I shrugged, not really listening or caring that much.

"Sure. I don't really care."

"Ok, see ya Potter."

Pansy left the room and I finished pinning up the bottom of the dress. I worked for about three hours, hemming the fraying skirt and creating and adding a lace trimming to the bottom. By the time Pansy returned, I had finished the skirt and only had the top details to work on.

"Holy shit. You got so much done."

"You were gone for like three hours. All this doesn't take that long, it's just detailing."

"Still. Damn."

I laughed.

"You have your dress? I wanna see if I can do anything to it."

Pansy pulled out her dress, a plain deep green dress, and handed it to me.

"I thought it looked nice and simple, but I feel like it's missing someone."

"I know what to add. Do you have gloves?"

"No?"

"I can deal with that later. I must get to work."

I took my dress off the mirror and hung it up on a beam across my bed, and hung Pansy's in its place.

"Can I help?"

"Duh. It's your dress."

Pansy smiled and sat down next to me. We embroidered clumps of leaf and vine shapes onto the fabric for the overskirt, and began to attach and edit the original dress. We worked for an hour, as double the people means half the workload and half the time, laughing and joking the entire time. It was a moment of normalcy and happiness, a nice break from everything else. After a while there was a knock on the door. I got up to open it.
