Where did the time go? I still couldn't believe that it had been four years since Marco and I got married. We had two wedding ceremonies. One here and one in Italy. Some of his relatives in Italy weren't happy that he had gotten married to me. One of his cousins in particular named Aiden, was very upset because Marco had married me and not an Italian. He had asked Marco why he was getting married to a woman who wasn't Italian and one who didn't grow up in the mafia. I had lost count of the numerous times that Anna, Luca, Lorenzo, and the other men had to step between them, trying to stop them from going at it. At one point, I had to take away Marco's gun and lock it away because he was adamant that he was going to kill Aiden.A few days after I celebrated my twenty-second birthday, I was diagnosed with stage two cervical cancer. I was also told that I would never have children. Well, with successful chemotherapy and the support from my wonderful husband and everyone else around me, I can proudly say that I am now cancer-free. I also proved the doctors wrong because two years after Marco and I got married, we became the proud parents of two amazing twin boys. We named them Ameir Alec Russo and Akeir Alek Russo. Ameir was older by two minutes. He was the one who was born first. I had them via c-section. I was very sick during my pregnancy and had gained a lot of weight. I was not that skinny anymore. Marco said that he loved me even more.
Luca was now the king and Lorenzo the underboss but Marco was still there to assist them with whenever they needed him. Luca and Loren were still together but Loren was living in Australia with her dad and his mother. I missed her a lot but she and I still kept in touch. Tory was living here with us. She and Anna were the twin's nannies whenever I wasn't here.
When I was sick, every night I would see Aunty Macy and my dad in my dreams. They were always smiling and looked so happy. Not a day went by that I didn't think about them and wished that they were still here to meet my babies. With Marco's help, I tried to find my mother but sadly, she died in a hit-and-run a year after she walked out on us. The driver was caught and sentenced to prison. I was able to locate her brother who was my uncle. He told me that my mother loved me very much and she was always trying to find me and my father.
He showed me pictures of her and told me that she always talked about me. She looked just like me. She was incredibly beautiful. Before now, I only had one picture of her that my father had given me years ago. They all said she didn't like to take photos of herself. Uncle Eulio said a month after she left, she begged him to take her back home but when they came, my dad had moved and that had crushed her. He said she cried and she was never the same after that. She wanted to ask for my dad's forgiveness and wanted her family back but it was too late because my dad had moved away. He also said she did everything to find us but couldn't. She even hired a PI. My uncle, Eulio, took me and the twins to meet the rest of my mom's side of the family. Oh, and my mother was born in Puerto Rico. She was Hispanic.
She moved here when she was six months old. My dad told me that after my mom walked out on us, he was heartbroken so he quit his job and moved away. My dad always told me that she loved me and I should forgive her. Well, I can now say that I have forgiven her but I was just heartbroken that she died just like my dad and I would never get the chance to meet her. It hurts because I didn't have any memories of her but my uncle and my grandparents told me so many fond memories of her. They said that I was so much like her.
