Grim and Ophelia glared at Ace as he started laughing, "I can't hold it back anymore!"
He was no nicer than anyone else at that forsaken school. She preferred having trash thrown at her.
"Come on, you're the ones who turned orientation into such a fiasco, right?" Ace asked. "The one summoned by the Dark Mirror who can't even use magic, and the monster no one summoned at all. It took everything I had not to burst into laughter right in the middle of the ceremony!"
"H-hey! You don't gotta be a jerk about it!" Grim yelled.
"So in the end, neither of you got admitted, and now you're janitors?" Ace laughed. "SO lame!"
"What did you just call me?!" Grim yelled.
"And you're both so clueless you don't even know who the Great Seven are. Not a one of them! Maybe before you try getting into the academy again, you ought to take a second crack at kindergarten?"
Ace continued laughing while Grim's fur started to stand as his anger grew.
"Anyway, just thought I'd tease you a bit. And man am I glad I did. It's been a blast! Unlike you, I actually have classes to get to, so I'll let you get back to picking up trash. Bye!"
"Myuh-uh! You ain't walkin' away from me! It's too late for that!" Grim yelled. He spout out some fire, preventing Ace from leaving.
"Whoa!"
"No one makes fun of Grim, Master of Fire! I'm gonna make that explodey-head of yours explode all over again!"
"Explodey-head?!" Ace growled. "You wanna throw down with me, shorty? You got some guts. You wanna talk hair, huh? I'm gonna shave you like a toy poodle!"
Grim spat another ball of blue fire, which Ace retaliated with a burst of wind.
Ace looked surprised then laughed, "Oh-ho! How do you like that?"
"His magic winds are blow in' my fireballs off course! No fair!" Grim looked at Ophelia, "Human! Help me!"
"He's not moving, Grim. I can't tell you where to aim."
She started to go back to sweeping when she saw a discarded soda can. While Ace was distracted by Grim, she kicked up the soda can and used the broom as a bat, slamming the can into the egotistic student's chest. It bounced off, not hurting him in the least, but he was so shocked, his wind spell knocked Grim's fireball into the statue of the Queen of Hearts.
Grim whooped, "We got 'im!"
Leaning against her broom, she smirked as she lowered her hand for the cat to hi-five. "You and I were both picked by the Dark Mirror, Ace. You're no better than me."
Ace sneered, "I'm way better than you!"
She grinned wickedly, "The Dark Mirror made one mistake this year. Who can say that it didn't make two?"
That clearly shook Ace.
"Wow, human. You really know how to put someone in their place," Grim commented.
"I told you, you need to impress the staff, not fight a talentless freshman," she told the cat, her eyes directly on Ace's.
"What is going on here? Cease at once!" Crowley yelled.
Ophelia looked at the headmage then the surrounding students. The duel had drawn quite the crowd. Some of the students that had thrown trash at her had returned and were shocked, as if they had managed to escape some terrible fate. Other spectators were whispering, wondering what would happen to the people who had damaged the Queen of Hearts statue.
