The scene before me was devastating to look at. Smoke and fire was covering everything that surrounded me as I leaned back against a brick wall. I coughed as I began to slouch down against the wall with my head down, I felt tired and my lungs began to fill up with the smoke and ashes that were in the air. My legs were shaking with fear as I knew I didn't have the energy to run anymore, there were screams that filled the air that echoed in the distance. As I looked up that's when I made eye contact with him.
"....." No words could come out of my throat, my eyes began to blur with the tears that were building up. As tears were streaming down my cheeks, I blink to clear my vision up a little as I continued to look back at him. Glowing green eyes were staring at me very intensely. I was still trying to process everything that was happening, but with the giant monsters approaching closer to me, I started to see my life flashing before my eyes.
[Flashback]
I was helping out at the hospital for Eldian patients in Liberio which was located in an interment zone. I was able to work there after my mother had past away when she was admitted there for trauma. During the time she was admitted I never left her side and I was practically there everyday to watch over her and take care of her. I guess I developed a habit of helping out the other patients there so they appointed me as a nursing assistant after my mother's death.
"There you go!" I finished securing a patient's arm brace as I gave them a smile. "T-Thank you!" The patient bowed their head at me while shaking slightly and I waved both of my hands at him. "No please don't! Raise your head up! After all you were in the military serving Marley during the Mid-East war!" I exclaimed as their face showed an expression of morbid after I said Mid-East war. "I WAS SO USELESS! I SHOULD HAVE DIED INSTEAD OF ENDING UP WITH A BROKEN ARM! SO MANY MEN WERE MORE COURAGEOUS THAN ME! WHILE THEY WENT TO FIGHT OUT IN THE BATTLEFIELD, I WAS HIDING IN THE TRENCHES LIKE A COWARD!" The patient burst out in a horrifying scream as he went pale with cold sweat. I was taken a back by his sudden outburst that I had gotten up from my sit too quickly which knocked it over. As soon as the chair hit the floor, the patient lunged towards me as he grabbed me by the collar of my shirt. "S-Sir! Y-Your arm!" I exclaimed as I was worried for his broken arm, I was surprised that he was able to find the strength in his broken arm to hold my collar.
