Susan woke up with a startled look. It had been a month and half since she was admitted. She had dreamt of her dad again. She tried to stand up but fell back in pain. A nurse was cleaning her up.
"Take it easy miss. Do not exert yourself."
Susan just smiled painfully and laid back down.
" You're awake. I thought you wouldn't wake up."
" You wish." She mumbled.
" What was that?" He asked.
" None of your business."
She heard him chuckling brightly and bit her lower lip in annoyance.
" We would like to be excused."
" Yes sir."
Susan imagined faint streaks of pink on the nurse's cheeks and her bashful smile. She heard the door open and close with a silent click.
" What is it? What do you want?"
Evans chuckled mockingly. " Can you give me what I want? You would be discharged in two weeks. Don't overestimate yourself just because you are one of my past partners.
Susan's heart ached because of his words. She really thought that he had feelings for her not until he betrayed her.
" And if you're thinking that I ever loved you... I'm sorry for misleading you." His voice was filled with mockery and despise. It was almost poisonous.
" If you came here to mock me... Then I'm sorry but all my emotions have been completely wiped out."
"Ha! But you were able to get a fiance and was planning to get married... with an emotionless soul. I have great pity for the poor man who fell for a worthless creature like yo..."
" I'm not worthless!"
"Really?" His gaze became piercing as he approached her. He slowly gripped her chin before moving his hand to her neck while trying to strangle her.
" D... Don't... d... do this." She coughed weakly.
His hand slowly peeled off her neck and went back to his pocket. He smirked at her.
" Even if I killed you. It wouldn't make a difference. You will neither be the first nor the last. Not even the middle. I want to watch you die slowly and miserably. Bye for now. Darling."
He opened the door but didn't shut it. She could still hear his voice.
" Make her undergo physiotherapy and psychotherapy."
The door shut as a lone tear fell from her eye. She chuckled bitterly.
' Why would you spend to later kill me? It was always peaceful before you came into the picture.'
Her thoughts flew as she settled into a dreamless sleep. The sedatives she was given was applying its effect. She just hoped that she wouldn't have to see him.
