A strong familiar voice echoed through the silent room which caused the girl to curse inwardly in misery while staring at the ceiling because of her state.

"Is she up?". The doctor and the nurse gently nodded.

"I need to speak to her... Alone."

The man who had just entered the ward exhibited an aura of arrogance and power which surprisingly surpassed the doctor's learned demeanor.

They both walked out of the room. The man slowly approached the girl smiling.

"Long time no see... Susan."

He emphasized on the name and it made her shiver in disgust.

The girl tried to sit up but unreasonable pains came flying at her in form of daggers. Her lower abdomen hurt. The man hurried towards her but she shook him off in pain.

"Get away from me Evans!" Her voice got muffled at the end but he still caught her message.

He smiled and asked, "Really? But you were the one always scurrying to me for help and now you are still the one to send me away. Susan, remembering old times sake, I guess you should know your place. At least, you lasted longer than others."

Tears slowly slid down her face. He reached out to wipe it but she dodged despite the pinches of pain she experienced.

He chuckled and said in mock sympathy, "Why are you crying? Is it because of me? Absolutely not! You were still the one who caused your father's death."

She blinked her tears away. She wasn't the cause, he was. She hated the guilt that gnawed at her insides everytime she remembered it.

She bit her tongue to kill the large croaks that threatened to spill out.
