Author's pov
Suddenly, someone grabbed Mishti's elbow and pulled her out of the store before she could react, and then a stinging slap sent her crashing to the floor.
"Ahhh! Ahhhh..." Mishti cried out in pain.
"You insignificant little girl!" Vishakha's mother spat, her voice dripping with venom as she towered over Mishti. "Remember, you are nothing but a pitiful replacement for my daughter."
Tears streamed down Mishti's cheeks as she whimpered, "But what did I do, aunty?"
Vishakha's mother clenched a fistful of Mishti's hair, yanking her head back cruelly. "Listen here, you wretched creature. When my daughter returns, you will vanish from Arhaan's life without a trace."
Mishti trembled in fear, her heart pounding with desperation. "But Arhaan loves me, and I love him..."
Vishakha's mother's eyes narrowed with disdain. "Love? Ha! Don't delude yourself, girl. You're nothing but a commodity, a pawn in my game. Who would accept a girl with no mother, sold off by her own father?"
Her words were like daggers, piercing through Mishti's already shattered spirit.
Vishakha's mother sneered, her voice laced with disdain. "Your love means nothing in the face of power and status, Mishti. You think Arhaan will choose you over his family's honor? Think again."
Mishti struggled to rise from the floor, her body shaking with a mixture of pain and defiance. "I won't let you control my life, aunty. Arhaan and I will find a way to be together, no matter what you say."
A cold, mirthless laugh escaped Vishakha's mother's lips. "Oh, you foolish girl. Do you really believe that? You're nothing but a thorn in our side, a stain on your parents reputation. Mark my words, I'll crush you before you even have a chance to dream of a life with Arhaan." And he love my daughter....
why are you doing this?? you are my mom's best friend and why you did that.. what are you getting it from doing this..
Mishti's voice quivered as she mustered the courage to confront Vishakha's mother. "Why are you doing this? You were my mother's best friend... Why betray her memory like this? What do you gain from tearing us apart?"
Vishakha's mother's expression twisted with contempt as she glared down at Mishti. "Your mother was weak, just like you. She couldn't protect herself, and she certainly couldn't protect you. But I won't make the same mistake. I'll do whatever it takes to secure Vishakha's future, even if it means destroying you."
Mishti recoiled at the cruel words, feeling the weight of betrayal and abandonment crushing her spirit. "How could you be so heartless? So cold?"
A dark smirk played on Vishakha's mother's lips. "Heartless? Cold? You haven't seen anything yet, my dear. Consider this a taste of what's to come if you dare to defy me."
Vishakha's mother's lips curled into a cruel sneer as she unleashed her pent-up resentment towards Mishti. "Mishti, I hate you from the core of my heart. I never liked you, not from the moment you entered this world. You're nothing but a pathetic excuse for a human being, just like your weak mother."
Mishti's heart sank at the intensity of Vishakha's mother's hatred, but she refused to let her see her pain. "Why do you hate us so much? What have we ever done to you?"
A bitter laugh escaped Vishakha's mother's lips, filled with venom. "Because your mother took everything from me."
Mishti's brow furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean? What did my mother do?"
Vishakha's mother's eyes flashed with fury as she spat out her next words. "Your mother stole every opportunity, every chance for success that should have been mine. She was always one step ahead, using her deceitful charm to manipulate situations in her favor."
