Let's go!" She replied.

We got into the car and set off.

"Who is going to be there?" Emily asked.

"The whole family" Emily's mom replied.

"Cool!" Emily said smiling,

"How often do you see your family?" I asked curiously.

"I never see my family.." Emily said with a sad look on her face.

"Your about to see them!" Emily's mom butted in.

"Yeah..Wait you forgot dad?!" Emily shouted.

"Your father left last night, he has another war to fight, the same place as last time I think.." Emily's mom said, sounding a bit upset.

"Oh.." Emily said, looking down.

I held Emily's hand and smiled at her.

"Haha, he'll be fine!" Emily's mom said wiping a tear from her cheek,
"Yeah, he won't be gone for too long!"

"That's good!" I added.

Emily tried to break a smile.

"Your nana, grandpa, aunts and uncles will be there." Emily's mom warned her.

"Do they even speak English?" Emily asked.

"Don't you remember them?" Emily's mom asked.

"No.." Emily said, sadly.

"Your nan is from the Philippines-"

"-I know that! But are they English? Like verbally?.." Emily interrupted.

"Yes, your nana isn't very good at the accent, but she is English, so yeah.." Emily's mom explained.

"Okay. When they speak to me just try and stop them" Emily laughed.

"No emily, good manners cost nothing. You haven't seen them in ages, just pay a bit of respect. Please?!" Emily's mom insisted.

"They sound great em!" I said, trying to make the situation better.

"Fine." Emily smiled,
"I do miss them, but I'm just tired"

"You'll be fine, open the window, get some fresh air." Emily's mom suggested.

I opened the window for Emily.

We sat in silence for the rest of the car journey.

*emilys perspective*

When we arrived at the place there was a huge red and green light on the top of it, symbolising the Italian flag. The huge logo read 'Gino's restaurant'.

As well pulled up, a huge black limo parked right in front of us.

A couple of recognisable people hopped out. They headed towards my mother and I.

"My baby girl!" The old woman said, tugging at moms cheeks.

"Hello mom" my mom replied with a loving look in her eyes.

"Emily?" The woman said, pointing at me.

"Nan?" I said, guessing.

She nodded and squeezed me tight. She smelt like raisins mixed with strong perfume and a slight stench of orange peel.

"And you? Are Emily's friend?" My nan asked maya.

"Well actually-" maya said, being interrupted by my mom.

"Yeah mom, Emily's friend!" My mom said, making it up.

"What?" I said, looking at my mom with confusion.
