Y/n's Pov

I was just walking through the halls of our school with Mimzy, until we saw the Bulletin Board section was quite crowded with students. Me and Mimzy would look at each other confused. We approuched the crowd and look at the bulletin board to witness what was happening.

"Y/n, a poster says that there's going to be a Singing contest! You should try it out!" Mimzy exclaimed as she looks at me with a wide smile.

I was hesitant so I shook my head. "I'm not sure Mimz. I'm not.. that good. Besides, I'll be competing with other singers who are good. Maybe too good than me." I explained.

Mimzy would roll her eyes at me and holds both of my shoulders to shake me. "Try to have some guts girl! Its just a competition. Win or lose, all that matters is you tried and had experience! And what's the most important part is that you showed your talent! Come on, ya' gotta get out of the shadows." Mimzy pleaded, trying to convince me to join.

I looked back at the poster that was written 'Melody Star: Singing Competition'. It'll start in 2 weeks before Mardi Gras.

Would I try out?

Should I perform to everyone?

Is it worth it?

What if I'll just embarrass myself infront of the audience? Or maybe lose..

"Trust me, I believe in you."

Alastor's words rang in my head, interrupting my train of thoughts. Alastor. Maybe I should talk to him about this later.

Mimzy would brag about the competition all day. It was getting in my head thinking if I should compete or not. After class, I went home with deep thoughts about this. It was stressing me out a bit since some side of me tells me I should do it while the other would tell not to.

I groaned in frustration as I entered my cabin home. Went upstairs and get myself change. The sun went down as night came. Dinner was quiet but not in a bad way, I somehow open this up to my parents about this competition. They encouraged me to try it out since they knew I got the potential to be in it. Though I'm having doubts as fear crept onto my mind.

When it was bedtime and my parents went to sleep, it was my cue to sneak out and talk to Alastor. I stepped out from my abode and walk ahead to Alastor's house holding a lantern. I was wearing my usual nightwear it was a (f/c) sleeve knee-length nightgown, along with my favorite (f/c) coat while my (h/c) (h/l) hair was down.

I arrived at his home, walking towards where his bedroom window was. The lights from his room was off so I guess he went to sleep early. I picked up a stone and throws it at the window. I repeated the process but he wasn't waking up.

Strange. Where is he?

I picked up a pebble and was about to throw again before someone hold my shoulders making me tense and flinch.

"Y/n-"

I yelp in surprise and spun around to punch the person who snuck behind me. It was dark until the light from my lantern revealed Alastor who was holding his nose.

"Al? Gosh I'm so sorry! Don't scare me like that!" I exclaimed in a whisper as I stepped closer to check him.

He shake his head and waved his hand dismissively. "Don't worry, dear. It was wrong of me to approuch you in such way. I didn't mean to scare you." he smiled at me and placed a hand on my shoulder.
