My eyes stung as I tried to open them and my head felt like it was being hammered, my throat was dry, the light was too bright. As I slowly adjusted to my surroundings, I could hear two voices arguing.

“You shouldn't have let her go to that place!”

“I didn't know she was going!”

The voices sounded like they were Shoko-senpai and Satoru's. The loud banter was making my headache worse.

“Can you two shut up?”

Their eyes widened in surprise and relief. Satoru hugged me, tight enough to knock the air out of my lungs.

“You were unconscious for two days, N/N! I was so worried!”

He kisses my forehead and brushes the hair out of my face.

Shoko-senpai pushes him out of her way and looks at me.

“Why did you go to that place?” her voice is stern and annoyed.

“I…” I looked away to avoid her gaze, “I wanted to meet my nephew.”

She raises an eyebrow but doesn't press the matter further.

“Your cursed energy levels are fluctuating, rest for a while and don't try anything funny.” She prescribed a few medicines and gave me a ton of advice before she left.

Satoru brings me a bowl of soup, watching me in silence as I drink it.

“I told you to call me immediately if something happened.” He frowns.

“Nothing much happened till I got home.”

“Why are you so careless? What if something had happened to you?”

The conversation quickly escalated to a heated argument.

“Why do you care?” I yell, annoyed at him.

“Because I'm your husband!”

“This is an arranged marriage just for the show. Stop trying to act like you care and poking your nose in my business!”

What am I even saying?

“Is that what this marriage was for you all these years? A fake marriage?” His voice was low but clear, the walls that he'd broken down for me through the years were starting to be built up again.

“Yes.” I look away, not wanting him to see my emotions.

He looks at me in silence, his eyes cold and distant. He walks out of the apartment, slamming the door shut behind him.

I sigh and walk up to the balcony, looking at the city.
Why couldn't I just explain everything to him? There was no need for me to be so rude…
I started to feel guilty as I watched the cars pass by. It was already way past midnight when Satoru finally came home, he never came into the bedroom that night. He must have slept in the spare bedroom we had downstairs. It's the first time we've slept in different rooms even though we were at home. I woke up to a cold bed in the morning.

Maybe I should've just explained it to him. But then again, it's not like he would've understood what I went through. He's the strongest sorcerer, a special grade. He wouldn't understand the circumstances of a weak first grade sorcerer.

I decided to just shut up and complete this book but I couldn't write the chapter cause of exams. I'm sorry if this chapter feels rushed.
