Ashar's P.O.V

Ahana turned towards me with her lips parted in surprise. "Sure." She answered hesitantly.

I gave her a small smile hoping to ease her anxiety. She seems really nervous, not that I blame her.

"You must be tired, I apologise for this. But if we go home now, Halia would go crazy and I think it's better for all of us that it does not happen."

She laughed and looked at me with a smile, "Sure I understand. It's okay, I don't mind waiting."

"Thank you for going along with this absurdity. I'll just drive around until she calls us."

She nodded and looked out the window. I drove on the empty road hoping that Halia doesn't take too long. Ahana's lehenga looks really heavy. She can't be comfortable in that.

Seeing an ice cream cart I parked the car. Ahana turned towards me."Is something wrong?" She asked.

"No, since we are just driving around I thought you might like some ice cream, it's rather hot outside."

"Ah." She ducked her face. "Thank you."

"Which flavour do you prefer?"

"Chocolate but can you get it in a cup?"

"Cup? Not in a cone?" I asked curious to her choice.

"I eat ice cream rather slowly and cones always make me too full. I always choose cup."

I nodded, "Sure, wait for me." I removed the seat belt and went to order. There weren't many people around so I didn't have to wait for long.

As I casually looked towards the car, I noticed Ahana's eyes on me. She gave me a smile. She surely does look pretty.

I came back quickly and handed her the ice cream. As we silently ate, I wondered about the future. I can't believe I have someone to share my future with. The idea itself is absurd.

"Thank you for the ice cream." Ahana's voice grabbed my attention and I faced her.

"It's no problem."

We sat in silence again. I'm now realising the reason of getting to know your wife before marriage. I don't even know what to say to her.

My phone's ringing cut through the awkward tension and I internally thanked Halia. "You can come home now Bhai. Be quick!"

She immediately cut the call. Shaking my head I started the car.

It didn't take long to reach my apartment. I live alone but because of the wedding, mom and Halia were staying over. Arzaan lives in the same apartment yet he doesn't go back to his house.

I parked the car and went over to the passenger's side. I opened the door and held out my hand.

Ahana looked up at me and slowly slid her hand into mine. Grasping it I helped her stand up. "How heavy is that lehenga?" I muttered.

"Probably a hundred kilos." Ahana replied clearly annoyed.

I chuckled and helped her walk. The elevator ride was silent as expected.

The doors opened revealing a carpet of roses leading to my apartment. "Oh? This is beautiful." Ahana commented as we walked on it.

"This is the reason we couldn't come straight home." I rang the bell waiting for Halia.

"Welcome!" Arzaan screamed and someone threw flowers on us.

As we entered I realised I was still holding Ahana's hand. I'm getting way too comfortable doing that.

Halia helped Ahana sit on the bed and stopped me from entering the bedroom.

"First give me my gift." She demanded.

I sighed, "Do we really have to do this right now?"

"Ofcourse! If you want to go to your wife, pay up!"

I took out my wallet and handed her the cash without counting, "It should be around 15K, now move."

She smiled, "Thank you! Okay I'm going now!"

"That's right, let's all go to sleep. Everyone must be tired. Arzaan beta just sleep here." Mom said laughing.

"He lives two floor below. He can go home."

"I'm staying." He stuck out his tongue at me.

"Childish." I muttered under my breath and went inside. Locking the door I turned towards my wife. It still sounds weird.

"You should go change. It must be hot with all that on."

She nodded and started getting up from the bed. I watched her getting increasingly frustrated as she couldn't stand up on her own.

She's...amusing.

I walked toward her and held her hand. She placed her other hand on my shoulder as I helped her down.

"Thank you." She muttered looking everywhere except my face. Is she blushing? The thought made me unnecessarily happy.

"No worries. I'll go change in the washroom and you can change here." I grabbed a sweat pant and t-shirt and left.

I came out after ten minutes and found her still in her lehenga. "Uhm, do you need any help?"

Her eyes met mine in the mirror, "Will you help me with the pins, Ashar?"

Hearing my name from her lips resulted into a reaction in me which I'm not proud of. My heart is definitely going to give out soon enough.

I cleared my throat, "Sure, what seems to be the problem?"

"There's so many pins attaching the dupatta to the lehenga but I can't find any."

I nodded and immediately started looking for them. I tried my best not to touch her directly and removed most of the pins.

"I think there's one here." She said pointing to her shoulder.

I gently held the dupatta in my hand and started opening the pin when she yelped. I stopped, "Did it prick you?" I asked worried.

"It's okay. Just a small scratch, don't worry about it."

"I'm sorry." I apologised feeling guilty and removed the pin.

"Thank you, I'll go change now." She said picking up her clothes.

"Sure, take your time."

I checked my emails in the meantime and realised I had a missed call from one of the managers. I decided to call him.

Just as we were discussing the issue, Ahana came out. Seeing her reflection on the window I turned towards her.

My throat closed up. I barely listened to my phone as I stared at her.

She was wearing a matching pajama set and her hair was in a pony tail. She has washed her face as well.

I have seen her three times, everytime with a full face of make up on. I don't know what I was expecting from her bare face. I guess I thought I would find that non existent flaw but fuck.

Fuck.
