Ashar's P.O.V
"When will you be home?"
I glanced at the text from Ahana. Checking my schedule, I texted her back.
"By 9."
"Okay, did you have lunch?"
I smiled. "Yes, and you? You were supposed to go out with Halia, weren't you?"
"Just came back. It was fun, we had ice cream sundae."
"Did you have a proper lunch or just that?"
"Does fries count?"
"They do not. Make sure to eat something."
"Yes boss!"
I chuckled at her last text.
"Why are you laughing?" Arzaan asked sitting at the opposite side of my desk.
I immediately schooled my face, "Nothing. Are those the files?"
He tsked at me, "You can't change the subject like this. Nuh uh uh." He wagged his finger smirking. "That was Ahana, wasn't it? Everything going well between you too?"
I cleared my throat, "I have no idea what you mean."
"It's been two weeks since your wedding and you seem very well acquainted with her. I was just wondering if it means something."
"Well, it doesn't. She's nice."
"That's it? She's nice?"
"What else am I supposed to say?"
"I don't know. Perhaps the reason you were giggling like a teenager right now?"
"I was not giggling. I don't giggle." I replied with disdain.
"Do you have a crush on your wife, Ashar?" He wiggled his eyebrows teasingly.
I sighed, "If you don't have anything important to discuss you can leave."
He raised his hands in surrender, "Just joking yaar, I wanted to tell you that the Qureshi firm wanted to have another meeting so I asked them to meet us today for dinner."
"Dinner? What time?"
"I reserved a table at the Italian restaurant for 8. I'm assuming it would take us two to three hours max."
"I need to let Ahana know then."
"You need to let her know? I thought there was nothing between you two?" He smiled.
"There isn't. And just to prove it to you I won't text her."
"Whatever suits you. I don't want to deprive you of your crush."
Laughing he left. Ignoring his words I got back to work.
Ahana's P. O. V
I glanced at the clock and placed the chicken in the oven. It would take twenty minutes to cook and Ashar will be home in ten minutes. Perfect.
I sat down just randomly scrolling through Instagram waiting for him.
The oven beeped and I realised that Ashar was still not home. He might be stuck in traffic I guess. Turning off the oven I sat down on the couch.
I texted him at ten.
Are you going to be late?
10:00 pmAre you still at work?
10:15 pmYou'll be having dinner at home, right?
