Nikolas passionately kissed me, making my knees buckle in nervousness. I weakly stepped back and began to feel out of breath. The vampire continued to kiss me as he pinned me against the barrier. One hand tightly held my waist while the other pulled my head closer to his own.

I tried to tell Nikolas to slow down, but I suddenly felt something slip into my mouth. I gasped as the kiss began to escalate. I desperately clenched onto his vest as I helplessly let him take the lead.

Nikolas moved away, finally allowing me to breathe. He began to shower my neck with kisses, hitting all of my sensitive areas. I covered my mouth with my hand to prevent anyone from hearing me. I could feel his lips smile against my skin. A sudden wet sensation sent shivers down my body. His tongue moved from under my chin to my chest, his fingers pulling my collar down to reveal more skin.

I grabbed onto the back of his cape, panting. I finally managed to get my words out. "Wait," I grunted.

Nikolas hummed as he sucked on my skin.

"Where's Nikolas?"

Nikolas instantly froze. I narrowed my eyes as I heard a low chuckle.

"You're smarter than I thought." The imposter grinned, immobilizing my body against the barrier.

Suddenly, I felt the sharp prodding of his fangs on my neck. With all of my strength, I grabbed his throat to push him away, but he yanked my hand off.

"Let's see how good you taste." said the stranger as his teeth started to pierce my skin.

I was about to scream for help until something splashed on the fake Nikolas.

The real Nikolas stood behind us with an empty glass in one hand and the other with a full glass. The imposter turned to Nikolas and scowled.

"Get the hell away from him, Zaros."

The vampire transformed back to his normal self. He began speaking in a foreign tongue. I assumed it was the language vampires speak.

Nikolas's eyes began to glow red as he responded to him in the same tongue, the glass cup in his hand shaking with fury. Zaros frowned and slowly moved away from me. The vampire grabbed onto Zaros's collar, his fangs bared and his nostrils flaring. Nikolas replied to Zaros, the words escaping his mouth sounded rough. Listening to the two of them argue sounded like snakes hissing at one another.

Zaros continued to speak, his golden eyes glaring at me through his masquerade mask. Nikolas sternly said something in a voice laced with rage. Whatever he said made Zaros humph. Zaros spoke one last time before pulling his cape around him, vanishing in a puff of smoke.

Nikolas put the glasses down on a granite bench near the wall and trotted up to me. He cupped my face with his hands, finally speaking in a language I could understand. "Did he hurt you?"

My eyes widened as the realization came over me. DAMMIT I GOT ANOTHER KISS STOLEN FROM ME! I screamed internally. I shook my head. "Well, he did kiss me."

Nikolas's eyes shot wide. "Kissed you?"

I nodded, rubbing the back of my neck.

He looked at my disheveled clothes and became angered at the sight of someone else's marks on me.

"I thought it was you at first, so I didn't stop him," I muttered.

"What made you realize it wasn't me?" Nikolas asked as he fixed the collar of my tailcoat.

I lifted my left hand to show the ring he gave me. In his presence, the ring softly glowed white. "When he was here, the ring didn't react." I softly smiled. "His acting was terrible. He smiled a lot more than you do."
