L stood in the middle of a quiet street, it looked somewhat familiar to him, but things seemed off at the same time. It wasn't his universe but it was definitely similar.

"This looks so familiar..." he muttered.

"Write down the code for this universe so we can use it to find yours" you said, reaching the form of your arm into his bag where he'd put his phone.

L took it off you, when he flipped it open he was met with several missed calls and text messages from Watari.

"Oh sh- hang on..." he muttered, opening the messages up.

Dad: L are you ok?

Dad: where are you?

Dad: L Lawliet I swear if you're hurt

Dad: that cloaked figure grabbed Cheif Yagami and demanded he take them to Light, the taskforce went after them. I'm not leaving this hotel until I know you're ok.

Well, at least L had someone who cared about him back home...

"Your dad freaking out?" You asked.

"Yeah, I'll message him back... can I send messages though universes?" He replied.

"Dunno, never tried. It works from my time room though so maybe"

"I guess we'll see"

L messages back, assuring he was ok and he was finding his way home with some help. To give him any updates on what was going on in his universe he could, and of course noted down the code to the universe he stood in at the moment. Putting his phone back in his bag, the next step was to figure out where exactly he was.

"Well the signs are in English, so it's an English speaking country" he noted, looking around at the quiet town.

Not many people were out, no one had noticed him magically appear in the middle of the street. It seemed like it was almost evening as the sun was setting and most shops were closing.

"Hang on..." he muttered, spotting a sign at the end of the street, it looked very familiar...

When he walked toward it, you couldn't help but hold onto his arm to keep yourself stable. Witch each step, the bag would move against his body and you'd be shaken around a little. It wasn't a perfect way of transporting you by any means but it was better than exploding in your 3D form.

"Wait I know where we are! This is one block away from wammys!" L said, the street sign making everything click in his mind.

This clearly wasn't his universe, some of the surroundings were different. But it was in the same bracket of universes as his, so it would be similar at the least.

"Go there, if wammys exists in this universe you might be able to find out how similar to your universe this one is" you replied.

"Already walking" He replied, wasting no time.

He was definitely in Winchester, it was chilly and the early setting sun meant it was likely close to winter. He didn't have anything apart from the bag you sat in and his phone, so if he could manage to get some stuff from wammys, it'd be a big help. L knew the way by heart, although he did note that each time he'd usually take a left turn, the signs would indicate right. Like this universe was a flipped version of his.

The road to wammys looked the same though, and when it came into view he couldn't help but feel a sense of warm nostalgia. It'd been a while since he'd seen those gates, no one was playing outside at this out, most of the kids would be called inside for dinner by now. The building looked the same, yet slightly unfamiliar. Like the colour of the walls was different or something, it was such a small change L wasn't sure what it was.
