Seans eyes twitched. Pain took over his body and he felt lightheaded as he woke up. He clutched his stomach as he slowly stood up, looking around their destroyed yard, the flipped over police car... the dead officer...

"No," he whimpered, feeling tears incoming. His hand was raised up to his mouth as his breath turned staggered.

He looked to the side, seeing Brett lie there next to a puddle of blood. He followed the splash of red until his gaze ended at his fathers body. "No, fuck!," he mumbled through his tears, rushing to Estebans side. Sean looked at his fathers eyes, seeing them stare into nothing ",no way.."

Abby let out groans, an ache forming in her legs as she stood up with a stumble. "Sean..," she whispered and walked towards him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I'm so sorry," she hugged him, feeling his tears wet her sleeve.

She looked at Estebans body, seeing a huge bloody spot right on his chest, a hole penetrating right in the middle. Tears shimmered in her eyes, her hand brushing up and down Sean's back.

More sirens blasted through their street, both of them perking up.

"We need to go," Sean mumbled and crawled to his younger brother, trying to shake him awake ",Daniel!" Abby bit her lower lip, the situation taking a whole new stress towards her. Sean picked Daniel up, his arms hosted under his leg and his back.

"Sean, I'll stay here and explain this situation-" Abby was interrupted by the mentioned boy ",no! They'll think you did.. this! Abby, I can't let you do this- Come with us." Sean looked at her, his eyebrows raised as he tried to wave her over to them. His lower lip was trembling in fear.

The girl sighed as she felt her hands shaking. This was a huge offer to accept. If she went with Sean, her parents would be so disappointed, and they would probably always need to be careful to not get catched by a cops- because not only being seen at a crime scene is suspicious- but running away from it?
Abby bit back a sob as she stood up, following Seans rapid steps.

She just loved him too much to let him go.

↬ two days later

Abby walked ahead of the two brothers, humming a tune under breath. She watched as her converse shoes almost got swallowed by the mud, cringing at the noise it made when she pulled her foot up.

"No, man, we can't stop here," Sean demanded, throwing his hands up in the air. The girl turned around to see Daniel standing at the side of the road, looking as if he wasn't planning on walking an extra few miles anytime soon.

She walked back towards them, stopping by her best friends side. "Come on, Daniel! We still need to finde a warm cave to sleep in for the night, like.. uh- real campers," she tried to motivate the younger boy, but he just continued pouting.

He looked down to the ground ",But.. my feet hurt really hurt. These shoes suck! And we've been walking for four days..-" Sean furrowed his brows, perking up as soon as he heard the false information leave his brothers lips ",what? only two! Don't even try that shit."

He turned around again, holding the bridge of his nose in a pinch between his thumb and pointer finger. He shook his head, Abby patting his shoulder to show him that she's there.

"And my back hurts from sleeping under that stupid bridge," Daniel continued to complain, kicking some small rocks around with his feet. Abby sighed ",Well, so does mine. Dan, we all are in the same boat. We need to stick together if you don't want to sleep under a bridge again tonight."
