*Aubrey (mum)*
"Just leave me alone, you pathetic man," I stared Ian dead in the eyes. He took a deep breath and slapped me across the face.
Pain instantly rushed through my veins and my head hit off the counter as I fell. Ian stared down at me, spat on my wounded head and ran, taking my phone with him. Everything was a blur as I called out for Ivy. No response. I assumed she was asleep, having sweet dreams like I'd promised her.
Apart from my cries, the house was dead silent. I trailed upstairs to grab some tissue to wipe my forehead clean. I passed Ivy's room on the way; I stopped breathing when I saw her bed empty. I searched around the room, praying that she was pulling a prank or something. As much as I hoped, I knew it wasn't true.
I tiptoed around her room, looking for a note or anything. There was a peice of paper on her clutters desk, as usual approached it, I prayed that it was a note saying:
Dear Mum,
I've gone round my friend's house for some comfort. I'll be back in an hour.
- Ivy xI turned on her bedroom light to get a better look at the paper. I didn't say what I hoped it would. It didn't say anything at all. There were scribbles of what I thought was Medusa signed off as 'my tattoo when I'm older'
I didn't know what a Medusa tattoo meant, surely nothing.I started frantically searching around the house, calling her name repeatedly. I struggled to breathe when I found the house empty. I hadn't relised when she left. She could've been out there for hours. Ian and I had started arguing at around ten at night. It was now two in the morning.
I thought about reporting her missing, it hadn't been twenty-four hours yet but I didn't care. I sprinted down to the kitchen, skipping most of the stairs. Oh wait.
Ian took my phone.I remembered I also had a tracker on Ivy's phone that connected to my phone. Did Ian take her? No, I was with him. The thought of her being alone terrified me. What if she wasn't alone? I tried to shake the thought and go out looking for her. Be productive.
I could hardly breathe as I searched the dark. I wished there was a way I could tell Ivy I was looking for her. She probably thinks me and her dad are still arguing. What if give to know she's okay.
I've been wondering around the streets for like an hour now. No sign of Ivy anywhere. I stopped round her friend's house, Freya I think it is, again.
"Any luck?" Her mum asked me.
I shook my head, "Could I use your phone to call the police? Ian took mine."
"Of course, Aubrey. Are you alright?"
I shook my head again and rang 999. I wiped my tears drooling down my cheek and began to speak.
"999 what's your emergency?" They spoke through the phone.
"Hi-uh my daughter's gone missing. I can't find her," I'd never had to ring the police before, so I didn't quite know what to say.
"Okay, when did you last see her?"
"She was in her room, asleep whilst me and her father, Ian Davis, were arguing."
"Do you know where she might've possibly gone? Perhaps she was scared of all the shouting? How old is she?"
"She's fourteen," I said.
Does she have a phone? We can possibly track her?"
I felt so stupid as I stuttered to talk. "No- uh- I took it away so that she'd go to sleep faster. You know, she wouldn't be up all night watching videos."
"Okay, we can start a search for her right away, just stay calm for now, we're sending people out right now," the policewoman spoke confidently.
"Thank you," I sighed as u hung up the phone. I can't stay calm. My daughter's missing. We live on a safe street, I never imagined this.
*Ivy*
I tried kicking them wherever I could to get them off me. "Stop!" I tried screaming, but my voice was mumbled by their hand over my mouth. I felt another pair of hands hit me in my lower thigh. My breathing slowed down as I started to feel faint and bloody.
I tried lifting myself up again but I was thrown back to the ground. My cries turned into even more screams as I felt my body being dragged through the ground. The cold, hard ground. I tried smashing my fists against the floor, I'm not sure why. I relised whatever I did wouldn't change anything, so I gave up. I rested my voice and allowed the two men to hurt me. I was gonna die at some point anyways, better now than never.
Out of no where, the gravel ground turned into a smooth wooden floor. I squinted my eyes open and saw the two men leaning over me. One smiling, one looking disappointed.
I couldn't move a bone in my body, I didn't even have it in me to try running away. Where would I run to? I couldn't go back home, no one would've even noticed I was gone. My parents are probably still arguing.
I stayed quiet, staring up at them.
"Good girl," a hairy man with a toothpick spat.
I sat, trying to listen to their conversation. All I understood was that both their names were Kian and Corey. My weak body was thrown into a cramped room with only a rocking chair in sight.
I needed a minute to process everything. It was difficult, though. I was focusing on the pain travelling through my body. My arms and legs were torn apart. Everything was blurry anyway."Hello?" I heard a faint whisper from the corner.
