*Aubrey*

I don't want to give up but I'm scared I might have to. It's been two months and three days. I've been counting. The police have called me pretty much every week with an 'update' which is really them telling me they haven't found anything. There's exactly 2,183 missing posters around the neighbourhood. I counted them too.

I've gotten a lot of knocks at the door the past couple of months, this one was unexpected.
"Hello?" I said to the woman standing at the door. It was my neighbour, Charline. She had a basket full of chocolates and cards.
"Myself and everytime in the neighbourhood made you this basket. We're so sorry for you and your daughter."

I couldn't find anywhere in me to be mad. I would usually slam the door on people who weren't the police right now, but I can't push people away. I need to socialise right now. "Thanks" I smiled.

I took the basket as she left. It was stuffed with the my favourite chocolate, cards that said 'you're so strong', candles, towels and flowers. My favourites, Carnations.

Then, I got a call. I can't get a moments peace. "Hello," I started. It was the police again.
"Hey, Aubrey. We haven't found an exact location but we're starting to narrow it down. Considering the amount of time shes been missing, it's likely that she's either kidnapped or dead." That's not a fucking good thing to say to a grieving mother.
"How do you know she's not already halfway across the country by now?"
"Well, the night she went missing, there as a terrible storm and most roads had to be closed. Those storms have been continuing causing the roads and airlines to be closed even longer."
"That dosent fucking help."
"Just trust us, we're doing the best we can," they said just as I hung up the phone.

That's it. I'm not gonna wait around anymore. I grabbed my coat

I spent the last hour knocking on doors and asking if they knew anything. Notbing. It was exhausting. All the same: 'no sorry, good luck though'. Until the last house said something.

"Hello. I'm the mother of Ivy Perry, the missing girl. Have you seen anything or know anything?" I said to the woman standing at the opposite end of the doorway.
"Oh my gosh. Are you the mother?" She inquired, intriguing me.
"That's what I just said."
"I've been looking for a parent. I saw on the flyer it said she went missing on the fourth of august? I was birdwatching out my bedroom window because apparently there was this night time rare bird thing in the news, anyway, I saw a young girl with a backpack walking alone along that path over there. The next thing I knew, two men came over and I just assumed they were her parents. But when I saw your flyer that's when I tried to get in contact with you."

This made my heart leap out my throat and onto the floor. I felt relived but nauseous at the same time. The police were right. She's either kidnapped or dead. "Well... did you see anything else?"
She stuttered almost in fear of me. "No, sorry. The timer on my oven went off for my cottage pie."
"Are you fucking joking? You saw my daughter being kidnapped and you left her for you fucking cottage pie?
"I'm really sorry Mrs Perry," she muttered.

I grabbed the collar of her prissy flowery shirt and punched her eye. Next thing I knew I was being arrested for assault.

"I have to find my daughter. What are you even arresting me for?" I questioned, yet loud and violent.
"I'm arresting you under suspicion of assault. You do not have to say anything unless you wish to do so, but anything you do say will be taken down and may be given in evidence," the policeman clarified.
"You have to understand, she just let my daughter get kidnapped by two men. This should be given in evidence towards her case, not mine," I announced.
"You have to realise, Mrs Perry, you can't go round attacking people. If anything you should be thanking her."
"I'd hardly call it an attack," I moaned.
"You gave her a black eye."
"It's her fault for being so sensitive."

Now I'm even more worried for Ivy.
