It's Freezing?

"So whose house am I driving to?" Allison asked me as we drove away from the forest.
I thought about it for a moment. My house has more food, but Allison's was more private and had larger square footage. Considering we needed privacy and could always go shopping for food, I opted for Allison's.
"You're house,"
"I hoped you would say that,"
We drove most of the way in silence. Or at least I did. Allison would not shut up about her ability to wish for things. I on the other hand was more concerned about the big picture.
"We're here," Allison said in a sing songy voice.
I climbed out of the car and headed for the door. I didn't bother waiting for Allison to catch up. Being her friend for forever gave me the right to walk in to her house.
I turned the knob. Unlocked as usual. "You need to start locking your house up."
"I know, I just forget." Allison said.
"Excuses, excuses." I teased. "I still can't believe your house is like three times larger than mine."
"Really? It's only been what? Nine years since I first brought you here."
"I know," I walked up the grand staircase towards Allison's room. Her room is huge. It's bigger than my Mom's master suite. Her bathroom has a jacuzzi tub and her closet is eight feet deep. The only problem with having Bill as a father, according to Allison, is that he isn't around when he is starring in a movie.
"Well let's get to work," Allison said.
.......................................................................
After a couple hours of searching the web we didn't have much to show for our work. Well, almost a couple hours. We got sidetracked a few times and ended up on YouTube, but that's a different story.
We ended up discovering that the forest we'd been camping at had supposedly been where accused witches were hung. We also read up on gypsy curses, but none of it related to Allison's gift.
"So we discovered pretty much squat?"
"Pretty much," I agreed.
"Well, what do we do now?" Allison asked.
"The only thing I can think of is figuring out what my power is. Or if I even have one."
"You have to. My eyes weren't the only ones glowing."
I sighed. "We're not really accomplishing anything. I guess I better tell Frozone that I can work tomorrow. Will you take me?"
"C'mon, there's plenty to do."
"Please,"
"Fine."
"You know you probably can use your power if you want. Nothing's happened to you yet so..." I lingered on the end of my sentence, unsure of what to say next.
"Do you want to go in the pool?" Allison asked.
Saved by Allison. "Sure, can I borrow a suit?"
After changing we ran outside to the deck. "Man it's hot,"
"All the more reason to jump in," I ran towards the pool. "Cowabunga!"
Allison gently lowered herself into the pool. "It's actually pretty warm,"
I focused on the water. It was nice and warm. To bad it wasn't colder.
"Oh my god!" Allison shrieked.
I snapped my head to her, no longer focusing on the water. Allison was staring at my hands. I looked down. The water around my hands had frozen.
"Wh-what," I stammered.
"Your power," Allison breathed. "Your eyes glowed and your hands like shot out tendrils of... I don't know what. But now the water is frozen. How did you do that?"
"I don't know. When you mentioned how warm the water was I focused on it and thought about how I wanted to be colder." I was still staring at the ice surrounding my hands in shock. I focused on the ice and pictured it melting. I felt the water warm.
"You did it!" Allison exclaimed. "I knew you had a power."
A power. I have a power. I was no longer stuck in Allison's shadow. What exactly could I do? I'd frozen water then melted it. But was that all I could do?
I again focused on the water. This time I pictured it floating in droplets above Allison's head and then dropping.
I opened my eyes to see a very drenched Allison glaring at me.
"You're in the pool, what did you expect?" I laughed.
Allison lunged for me pulling me under water. When she let go, I swam to the surface.
"Now we're even." Allison gasped for air. "I wish to control water."
Nothing. "Another limitation," I said.
"Great,"
"Did you notice that so far you can't wish for anything that has to do with powers?"
"I was just wondering the same thing."
I heard a car pull up. "Were you expecting someone?"
"No,"
Great. An unexpected guest to ruin our practice time. Now, who could it be?
