2 - Nighttime Calling

A toasty shower really hits the spot. Stepping out of his bathroom, he ruffled up his wet hair so it would dry better. Maximising surface area, you know. 

Sapnap plonked himself down onto his bed, bouncing slightly, and reached for the phone on his bedside table. No new notifications. Sighing, he loaded up YouTube and started to mindlessly scroll on Shorts. TikTok users were on a similar level to Weebs, in his opinion. Shorts were better any day.

At a record of one minute into scrolling, he found the first DNF shorts edit of the day. It was of the cooking stream they did only a short while earlier and the creator had clipped the moment of George and Dream both holding the wooden spoon at the same time. 

He saw himself, talking to the camera in the foreground, but it was evident the focus wasn't on him. 

He was a spare. Tossed aside.

Sapnap froze in the spot momentarily before telling himself to man up and move on. Dreamnotfound was a running gag: he shouldn't be triggered at all. It was all a joke. All a joke. All a joke.

Swiping up for the next one, he saw a doctor YouTuber speak. "If you take really long, hot showers, then you could be suffering from loneliness. You're much more likely to be feeling emotionally discontent than if you don't. Science has suggested that the heat from the water feels like a warm hug which is more appealing to people who need one. Also, asdoj indishjo asjdfkhs abc-"

Sapnap toned the rest out, for he had heard enough. He wanted to curl up underneath his covers and let the tears threatening him flow freely without judgement. To hug his pillow and pretend that it was a living being who understood. 

He wanted, most of all, to make himself feel better.

But you can't make yourself feel better if even your own mind doesn't understand.

Sapnap, why are you crying? Are you that weak? Dreamnotfound is just a joke! A joke like you are. You can't even handle your friends being affectionate towards each other! What are you? TELL ME, SAPNAP! TELL ME THAT YOU KNOW YOU'RE A SELFISH, HORRIBLE PERSON! TELL ME YOU KNOW! TELL ME! Face it, NICK, you're a joke. You're a jo~

Sapnap sobbed and buried his face into his pillow to mute himself. He was making a begging fool of himself. He told himself to be a man and to shut up and to stop being the pathetic loser he was, but the way the human body worked, thoughts like those did not help at all.

Ding! One new notification. 

Still lying down on his bed, he grabbed his phone to check, grateful for the distraction.
