I sat on the roof and stared out into the town. "Shouldn't you be at work?" Gregory asked, sitting next to me. I shook my head and said, "There's nowhere to work,"
"She's gone?" he asked, looking at me. "Yeah," I watched as people walked through the town. "I'm gonna go for a walk," I said. I stood up and walked down the stairs and out 0f the orphanage.
I walked through town, over the bridge, and along the small, winding path. When I got to the train station I sat on a bench and waited. The train would come in about fifteen minutes.
"We have to leave in fifteen minutes!" Lady Tremaine called. I hurried as I continued to fix my hair. "Drizella! It's not looking right!" I shouted. "I don't care! My stupid makeup won't work!" she shouted back.
I rolled my eyes and continued trying to do my hair. We were getting ready for the ball that would change all of our lives forever. Once I finished my hair and Drizella finished her makeup we walked down the stairs to be greeted by our mother.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I remembered what my mother had done to poor Ella's dress. I heard a whistle and looked up. The train was coming. Before the train came to a stop I got up and started walking back towards the town.
When I got to the bridge I stared out into the water. I thought about everything that had happened in these last two months. I had become a totally different person. It was crazy.
When I got back to the orphanage I was told by one of the girls that Directress Jewel was looking for me. As I was walking to her office I saw Gregory come out of it looking as pale as a ghost, his eyes never meeting mine.
I walked into her office and she smiled. "So! I have some news," she said. "Alright. What is it?" I asked, sitting down in a chair. "Your sister is on break from finishing school and has offered to take you in until she leaves again,"
"What?" I said, my mouth dropping open. I would get to see Drizella again! That was wonderful news! I was missing her so much. "Mhm! You leave tomorrow so get your things packed up and say your goodbyes,"
I excitedly ran to my room. I packed all of my things quickly. I was so excited to see her, even if it was only going to be for two weeks. I searched around for Gregory and found him on the roof.
"I have something to tell you!" I squealed, sitting down next to him. "So do I," he said. He looked pale and sad. "You first," he said, smiling a little at my excitement.
"Drizella is back in town for two weeks! I get to see her again!"
"Two weeks? When do you leave?" he asked, his face getting serious. "Tomorrow," I smiled. "Tomorrow..." he whispered. "So what was it you wanted to tell me?" I asked. He shook his head. "I'll tell you tomorrow before you leave,"
In the morning I got ready, ate breakfast, and brought my trunk to the front door. I was saying goodbye to all of the girls and boys when the carriage pulled up. Drizella got out and I ran to hug her.
"I missed you so much!" I sobbed into her shoulder. "I missed you, too," she said, smiling. "Come on! I want to spend as much time with you as possible!" she added. A footman took my trunk, but I didn't move.
I turned around and scanned the crowd for Gregory, but I didn't see him. "Whoever you're looking for will still be here when you get back," Drizella said from inside the carriage.
"Yeah..." I said getting in with her. I wondered where Gregory was and what it was that he wanted to tell me. I knew Drizella was right. He would be there when I got back. Or would he?
