The incident quickly alarmed the school leaders.

"Bring out the surveillance footage," the head of the biology department barely suppressed his anger and ordered.

Zhu Zhengqing was personally recruited by him from Harvard. Now that their research results had been stolen, it couldn't possibly be Zhu Zhengqing himself crying thief, so the problem must lie with the school.

All laboratories at Capital University were equipped with smart video surveillance. The surveillance footage was not displayed externally but stored in dedicated computers, accessible only to the laboratory heads with a password.

Upon hearing this, the director of the surveillance room, who had just arrived, suddenly changed his expression. "Director Tang, you've forgotten. A few days ago, the school's network system was attacked by a hacker. Our surveillance room was the first to fall. Because the download protection mechanism was triggered, almost all surveillance recordings were automatically destroyed."

Adding insult to injury.

The head of the biology department turned ashen. "Can it be recovered?"

The director of the surveillance room smiled bitterly and shook his head. "If it could be recovered, it would have been recovered long ago."

The atmosphere instantly quieted down.

To reclaim their research results, they could only resort to legal means.

Although they had experimental records on hand, this could only prove that they had conducted the experiments. Moreover, experimental records could be falsified, whereas surveillance footage could not. Without surveillance footage, the other party would have ten thousand reasons to argue, and could even turn around and accuse them of fabricating experimental records...

Finally, someone couldn't help but speak up: "There's no such coincidence in the world. Right after the hacker attack, the surveillance footage was automatically destroyed, and then our research results were stolen."

As soon as he spoke, the anger of the entire project team was ignited instantly.

"That's right, there's no such coincidence!"

"We, more than ten people, have been working tirelessly for more than three months for this project. How much sweat have we shed? It's impossible for us to sabotage our own efforts!"

For a moment, everyone echoed in agreement.

"Old Zhang is right. I'm counting on making some achievements in this project to be promoted to associate professor next year."

"So am I. I haven't completed my thesis task this year, and this project is my only hope."

...

"Which means it definitely wasn't because our project team has an insider!"

"That makes the problem much simpler. Over two-thirds of the computers in our laboratory are not connected to the internet, so there's basically no possibility of being hacked by hackers. The laboratory doors are closed at night and cannot be entered or exited. If someone wants to steal something, they can only do it during the day. There are no signs of our laboratory locks being tampered with, and hardly anyone has entered the laboratory recently. So, who else could it be besides us?"

The speaker was a tall, skinny man wearing glasses, who was probably the calmest among the group.

However, the implication was clearly pointing directly at Meng Zhezhi.

The others followed his gaze and simultaneously came to a realization.

Without surveillance footage, it meant that this research result was likely lost. This project had a research budget exceeding millions, and someone must take responsibility for it.
