Colby was sitting in his bed, restless and on the verge of slipping. He didn't want to wake anybody up but he needed somebody next to him. His teddy bear wasn't doing the job.
Sam was next door but he was asleep. Colby, being the considerate boy he is, decided not to bother him because he couldn't sleep.
But, with the loud rustling of the bushes and trees outside. He couldn't help but let his body guide him out of bed.
The quiet creaks of the floor as he stepped towards Sam's door made him more eager to sleep next to his caregiver.
His legs felt like they were going to give out with every step, but he still managed to make it to Sam's room.
Colby gently knocked on the door, awaiting a sweet greeting from Sam.
"Colby? Is that you sweetheart?"
Colby mumbled a quick "uh-huh" while opening the door. Sam observed his demeanor and saw his puffy eyes staring back at him.
"You poor thing, did you not sleep well?" Colby shool his head, rubbing his eyes once more. "I couldn't sleep, Daddy.."
Sam invited Colby into his arms, pulling back the blanket as well. Colby waddled over to the bed and climbed into Sam's embrace, feeling the warm blanket being thrown over them.
"You can sleep with me baby, i'll stay here as long as you need me to." Sam whispered.
Colby nodded, trying to smooth his breathing.
Sam held the other's hand, rubbing his thumb over Colby's smaller fingers.
"Breathe with me love."
Colby imitates Sam's breathing patterns.
"Deep breath in... Now out.."
And just like that, He was out like a light.
