Saorsa - freedom, liberty
I was sat in my room, reading over a piece of paper for what felt like the hundredth time. I looked through the vials, trying to find the pattern; the piece to the puzzle.
Alby then knocked on the door of the shack, "Serena, you coming out at any point?" he asked.
"Yeah, when the box comes up." I say, not looking towards him and keeping my eye on the papers. I had to find something. We haven't found anything it three whole years.
"Hey, you can't stay in here all day," Alby said walking towards me.
"I'm not, I'll leave when I'm needed."
Alby came behind me, taking the paper out of my hand and holding it above him, so I couldn't reach it. "Hey!" I said, smiling at his antics.
"Get some fresh air, when was the last time you left this room?" he asked.
"Yesterday, morning I think," I muttered under my breath.
"Exactly," he began but was interrupted with the sound of the box's thundering as it came up. "Come on."
We walked together, to the box which was surrounded by all the boys. Another thing I wanted to figure out was why I was the only girl, so far at least. Just as the two of us reached the box, it came to a stop, the ground shuddering beneath us.
"Right on time," I heard Newt beside me.
I narrowed my eyes at him. Every time I'm around him, I can only think of that one memory. Him standing there infront of me, doing nothing to stop me from being dragged away.
I don't have time to make a remark a Gally jumps in the box, throwing the greenie out.
He seemed familiar, his hair or something. I've seen him before. However, my thoughts were interrupted by the boy making run for it. Where? I don't know.
As he ran, the boys made noises of surprise, shouting, "We've got a runner!"
Although, he must have tripped on his feet and faceplanted, making me laugh. He seemed to have finally taken a second to look around, take it all in.
Two boys went and grabbed him to throw him in the pit. We can't have him run out into the maze.
"You're coming with me to show him around," Alby says behind me, "You're not going back into that shack."
"Fine," I say, but it comes out more whiny than I want to.
----
"Hey there greenbean." Alby began, "You're not going to run again."
Once we were sure he wasn't going to run again, I opened the door. "Do you remember anything, anything at all? Your name?" I ask.
"N-no," he stuttered out, "No, I can't remember anything. Why can't I remember anything?" His breathing starts to get uneven, like he was panicking.
"Hey, hey relax." Alby tries to help him. "It's normal. It happens to us all. You'll get your name back in a day or two." He explains.
"What is this place?" the boy asks. He seems to be asking a lot of questions. Has he ever even said an actual statement.
"Let us show you," I say, offering hand to get him out.
----
"We eat here, we sleep here, we build out own shelter. Anything we need the box supplies." Alby explains.
