It seemed this paper wasn't supposed to be sent down to me, usually I get given irrelevant pieces, things that wouldn't really help me. This seemed important.

I held the paper with Thomas's name on it. I read it over and over again, hoping something inside of me would click, maybe I would remember him.

Newt's POV

I was walking back to my shack, half drunk, when I saw lights coming from Serena's. I could have sworn she left ages ago, why would she still be up.

Not thinking, I walk up to it and slowly open the door.

There were papers stuck to every wall: pictures of each one of us, pictures of the maze, which I thought wasn't finished mapping, and drawings of some creature, what I imagine to be the grievers. There were vials of blood beside blue vials and a smaller version of the glade in the center of the room.

I looked towards Serena, who was faceplanted into her desk. She fell asleep. This girl needs to give herself a break, this bonfire was the first one she actually stayed at.

I crept closer until I was right beside her, although I must have made a noise because she shot up and made a hit for whatever was behind her.

"Newt?" She asked when she finally looked around her. "You shouldn't be in here." She began walking forwards, so i walked backwards. "Please leave, you can't see this stuff."

She looked genuine, like she was upset.

"I'll leave, I'm sorry." I walked further backwards, closer to the door.

"Promise me you'll forget you were even in here."

"If you promise me to take a break." I say, leaning on the open door.

"Fine, now go," she shooed me out of the room.

As I walked back to my room, I thought about why she was so upset. What is she hiding from all of us?

Serena's POV

The next day, I was woke up by Alby because I hadn't woken up early enough. He was going to take Thomas to the wall with everyone's names on, after I had taken a sample of his blood.

We walked to the homestead together, the silence comfortable. We always had an understanding of each other, we grew here together.

As we got to the homestead, I could see Thomas tossing in his sleep. He was probably having a nightmare. Quickly, I grabbed the needle, while Alby carefully grabbed his arm, as not to wake him up. I wanted to do it while he was asleep or he would probably ask even more questions and I couldn't handle that.

When I was finished, I put a plaster on him so he wouldn't complain about a bleeding arm and left. Alby then woke him up by covering his mouth. See, if that was me, I wouldn't take that.

----

I was in the middle of comparing some blood samples when I heard some shouting outside; shouts for help. Dropping what I was holding, I bolted outside, hoping to help whatever issue was going on.

Running from something, I saw Thomas coming out of the forest. Behind him was Ben. It looked like he was chasing Thomas. Right as they got out of the forest, Ben jumped on Thomas, making them fall on the floor. Hearing the commotion, everyone ran to them, including me.
