Welcome to a unique celebration of Wattpad's hidden gems, its talented Fan-Fiction writers, and their incredible stories!
I loved judging the first batch of stories so much, that I'm bringing this awards back for a second round!

The Velvet Nocturne Awards was made out of a desire to celebrate all of the incredible talent we have right here on Wattpad. Our writers, our artists, our illustrators, and their works are truly some of the best in the world!
In round two, I will additionally provide a detailed review of your submission in order to better explain where my mind was at when judging.💜

RULE #1. MUST permanently follow your host and judge, wonderjoons.
RULE #2. Absolutely NO attempted bribing or bullying others. This will not be tolerated and will result in instant disqualification.
RULE #3. Give this awards book a shoutout on your message board AND add it to a public reading list. Tag me, wonderjoons, so I can see it.
RULE #4. Submissions are FINAL and cannot be removed from the awards once submitted.
RULE #5. Comment a '💜' here if you've read all the rules and understand them. ➙
RULE #6. This awards runs on a first come, first serve basis. You can submit into as many categories as you want, but you can only submit up to two stories per category.
RULE #7. This awards show accepts Fan-Fiction only! (Sorry😔)
RULE #8. If you participated in round one, you may submit the same stories, just not in the same categories. The categories this time around are different, however, I highly recommend submitting a new story! 🫶🏻 I will NOT re-evaluate your story if you submit it again unless you have added new chapters.

Categories will be done slightly differently during Round Two! This is heavily inspired by the Fairy Night Awards!
MAJOR CATEGORIES (2)
• Best Fan-Fiction Piece (Ongoing) [15 SLOTS]
• Best Fan-Fiction Piece (Complete) [15 SLOTS]
The 'Best Fan-Fiction' category is for extremely well-written pieces. They will be judged on a long-list (Top 10) and short-list (Top 5) before I reveal the final top three! Every story will receive glows and grows (that come from my personal opinion)! Please specify whether your book is complete or ongoing when submitting your form. I will NOT do it for you.
MAIN CATEGORIES (5)
• Best Summary [10 SLOTS] Does your summary make me want to read your story? Is it engaging? Is your summary professional? Is it too vague or does it over-explain?
• Best Cover (Basic) [7 SLOTS] Is your cover attention-grabbing? Would I want to pick this book up in a bookstore? Does it correlate with the theme of your story? Book covers do not always have to be complex, and there are various ways to make simplicity work!
• Best Cover (Complex) [7 SLOTS] Is your cover attention-grabbing? Would I want to pick this book up in a bookstore? Does it correlate with the theme of your story? Is it coordinated? Is your book cover focused more on aesthetics than logic/functionality?
• Best Characterization [10 SLOTS] Your characters are incredibly important in your story. In most cases, they make or break the story. Are your characters interesting, unique, and logical? Do their behaviors make sense?
• Best Concept [10 SLOTS] Is your story's concept unique? If not, how do you make your spin on a cliché more engaging than other books of similar concepts? Is your concept logical? Does the premise become convoluted quickly?
MINI CATEGORIES (3)
• Best Romance [5 SLOTS] Do I feel forced to ship your OTP out of convenience? Why should I root for the main pairing? Are romantic scenes swoon-worthy and well-thought-out? *LGBTQ+ Friendly! (Meaning, this is not exclusively an LGBTQ+ category, but allows for LGBTQ+ entries.)
• Best Writing Style [5 SLOTS] Is your writing style unique? Does your writing style serve your story in a positive way? Do you have a distinct writing style?
• Best Prologue [5 SLOTS] Does the prologue effectively set the stage for the rest of the story? What differentiates your prologue from being mistaken for a first chapter? Is the prologue significant?
