Alastor was currently getting scolded by Rosie for leaving Allison in the park when she was going on two years old. Alastor tried to defend himself by saying his mother used to leave him at the park all the time when he was younger..
However Rosie just called him an old man and shoved a parenting magazine in his hands. Alastor blinked at the colors, Confused what Rosie was implying.
"Rosie, My dear. What exactly do you mean by this.. Smiley, Happy, Magazine? And where are all of the people? In New York Magazine-"
"Stop being so old and learn how to take care of a baby!" Rosie snapped. For a matchmaker who's key skill was talking to people, Alastor sure did get scolded a lot.
She seemed to be nicer when Allison was with them, But Vox had been given that duty for the day.. Which was mostly just them watching reruns of her favorite show. But apparently, Vox was more inclined them her own father!
Before you ask, Yes. Alastor was still jealous.
"Can we please go and collect my girl now? I'm sure she's awfully bored watching ridiculous demons fight over a man who couldn't give a sh-" Alastor grumbled, Rosie gasped.
"Have you been talking like that around Allison?"
"Well, Of course I have."
Alastor growled when he felt a newspaper hit his chest rather harshly, Shadows and static flying around him.
"Calm down, You sourpuss. Now, If Allison is going to grow up to be the elegant lady you want her to be, You can't be swearing so much! Let alone leave her in a park- In cannibal town! I love my people to bits, But they love a baby soup more then a crying baby!" Rosie rolled her eyes and sighed.
"I am taking good care of her! She can already say five phrases and some odd words. Not to mention, I'm going to start teaching her how to walk. It's not that hard, Is it?" Alastor shrugged.
Rosie rubbed her temple.
"Is it hard?"
She turned away from Alastor, Who was seriously doubting himself right now.
"Rosie!"
Soon, Alastor left Rosie's shop to go to Vox and hopefully retrieve his daughter. When he got there, They were both passed out while the show carried on.
Alastor sighed and decided not to disturb the pair. The last time he did, He was shocked by Vox and Allison cried for almost an hour.
He sat down on the armchair and attempted to pause the TV. Soon getting annoyed and deciding to just leave the TV playing.
He remembered the pamphlet that Rosie had given him and decided to start reading it. He started to scan the things which Alastor should've known and been doing, While being a new parent.
He wasn't the biggest fan of all these colors sprung against a child, But he tried to remember he was doing this for Allison.
-Raising children 101-
'Being a parent in this era is difficult! Knowing how you raise a child will have the effect on them, Meaning you hold the hammer which will mold them!
'We recommend putting them on a healthy diet, Depending on their age! After six months, You are free to give them solid food and other crunchy items! Remember to watch a child while they're eating incase they have a choking experience! (Check pg.16 for how to perform the Heimlich!)'
Alastor blinked, Continuing to read. He wasn't sure about all this information.. Not disciplining your child physically? Alastor was raised that way! All these new parent magazines are-
"Stupid." Alastor spat, Throwing the magazine across the room so it hit against the wall with a thwack!
Alastor grumbled and crossed a leg over the other, He was sick of people telling him or implying that he wasn't a good enough father.
He looked over to his sleeping daughter, Watching her ears twitch and perk up, As her subconscious travelled through the dream realm.
Alastor raised his palm and stroked her hair gently, Enjoying the way she seemed to lean into his touch, Showing her trust. He closed his eyes and attempted to relax. The fury in his body seemed to calm down when his daughter seemed relaxed.
He pulled his clawed hands away from her as he felt her tremble under him, Making him nervous. He realized how cold it was in the room and grabbed one of the blankets that was strung over the couch. He draped it over both Vox and Allison.
He stood and started to make tea, boiling the kettle on the oven. He watched the smoke rise. It had took him a while to get used to not using a fireplace to heat up a kettle, But he'd gotten used to it.
Perhaps parenting is like that.
