The Age of Evolution, also known as the Great Formatting, was an era that saw the rise of early civilization on Cybertron following the fall of the Thirteen Primes.

After Micronus Prime, Onyx Prime, and The Arisen chose to be absorbed by the Well of All Sparks, the spark geyser erupts with an endless array of new lifeforms that would become the second generation of Cybertronians. Before entering the Well, Onyx Prime uses his relic, the Triptych Mask, to scan various lifeforms in the known universe for patterns to base the new Cybertronians on, as the first beings to emerge from the Well of All Sparks was a storm of robotic animals known as the Mechanimals. All kinds and sizes of them cover the land, fill the air and seas, and go across Cybertron. This happens nonstop for days as A-3 tries to log the different mechanimal species that come out of the Well. These mechanimal species range from the metal-eating Scraplets to the nimble Turbofoxes and the equine Thunderhooves to the majestic Singlehorns to the elegant Deatheagles to the vicious Pnema-lions and Alloygators to the reptilian Jurassanoids to the enormous, underground-dwelling Drillers.

On the third day after the Well of All Spark's activation, normal, humanoid Cybertronians similar in design to the Primes and the Knights of Cybertron called Commandrons begin to appear. The first wave of Commandrons would gather around the Well, eventually forming the city-state of Tyger Pax. The last remaining Constructicons, Skyraiders, and Protectobots from the Age of the Primes would blend in with this second generation, acting as teachers, heroes, and leaders of the tribes that form over the following eons. Among the second-generation Cybertronians was a proud warrior named Maximus Prime, the first "mortal" Cybertronian created by Primus, having been born with memories of the once-prosperous Age of Primes so that he may serve as a successor to the Thirteen and pass on their knowledge to future generations. Maximus Prime's benevolent reign would last for hundreds of thousands of ano-cycles with the Knights of Cybertron by his side as his vanguard force, who defended the weak and needy with the mystical Artifacts of the Primes.

Soon after, the first Insections and Arachnicons, insectoid-like and arachnid-like Cybertronians, emerge from the Well of All Sparks and settle throughout Cybertron's badlands, creating hives and small farms of their own.

On the last day of this first burst of creation, the AllSpark's largest and most powerful creations of all would emerge, magnificent beastformers known as the peaceful Maximals and the savage Predacons. Although they were intelligent and capable of speech, the Maximals and the Predacons adhered to primitive lifestyles; they competed with one another for food and territory in savage duels, and fed off other lifeforms indiscriminately, with some Predacons terrorizing Commandrons across the planet. Among the first and most powerful of the ancient beastformers is an imposing robotic dragon known only as "the Predaking," who struck fear into the sparks of all but the most stout-hearted Cybertronians like Maximus Prime and the Knights of Cybertron, who were some of the very few standard-formers who bested him in battle.

Unlike the first generation, the second generation of Cybertronians didn't realize that they have a T-Cog, so no one knows they can transform. A-3 and Alchemist Prime initially wondered if they should tell the new Cybertronians about their transformation abilities, but they decided not to as they didn't want to meddle with the new generation and take over, to be seen as heroes to solve everyone's problems, and they just preferred to watch what is developing on Cybertron in slowed-down time.

Titans and other gigantic Cybertronians called Megamasters begin to emerge from the Well of All Sparks. These massive robots, along with the first-generation Titans, broke down many of Cybertron's endless mountain ranges and terraformed the planet's surface into what it is today. Among them was a giant among giants named Autonomous Maximus, a powerful warrior who wielded incredible cosmic powers similar to the Thirteen Primes and towered over all Cybertronians, even the tallest Titans and Megamasters, in near silence and the depths of his thoughts. Over many ano-cycles, Autonomous Maximus defended Cybertron from many hostile threats such as the Dire Wraiths, a race of parasitic shapeshifters from the Dark Nebula who wielded dark magic, until he decided to descend into the planet's depths as a solitary vigil, entering a long stasis until he's called upon to once again protect his people in "The Day of Final Judgement," prophesized in the Covenant of Primus. Autonomous Maximus's name would be forever lost to history, resulting in incomplete myths and legends referring to him as "the Ultimate Warrior," "the Soul of Cybertron," or "the Guardian of Primus," but he'll be more famously known in the modern day as "The Last Autobot,"
