"I said it's fine." Mike pushed Will off of him, making Will fall back onto the wall, before running out of the gas station. What the hell? Will heard ringing in his ears. He looked around and saw the mother looking at him, but instead of helping she walked up to the cashier to pay for her stuff and leave.

Mike walked into his homeroom with Max, as usual. He saw El and Will in different seats. Will must have requested to change seats because of Mike. Mike felt sorry for him, it's not Will he's trying to hurt. Mike took out a piece of paper and wrote on it. He folded it and wrote on the top 'Pass to Will'. It went through a couple of students before Will finally got it. He opened it and read...

I'm sorry about the other day. I wasn't trying to hurt you, I promise. I don't really know how to explain why I get like that, but sometimes I do. And I'm sorry. I can pay for any possible medical bills you need me to pay for.

Will looked up at Mike, who was staring at him already. Will smiled before he and El got up and walked back to their normal seats.

"I'm sorry." Mike apologised again as Will approached.

Will shrugged. "It's fine." He said as he sat down in his usual seat next to Mike. "I just sat over there because I thought you were mad at me and I thought that you might need some space.

Mike shook his head. "I could never be mad at you." He stared into Will's eyes. He then snapped back into reality. "I mean- I am not mad at you. Sorry, I was thinking of a line from a show."

Will laughed. "It's fine." He smiled at Mike again. Mike smiled back. Mike was happy. It's been a while since he had that feeling.

Mike took out another piece of paper and wrote something down. He handed it to Will, who read it.

Want to hang out at Hawkins Park?

Will nodded.

"Meet me at four, by the lake," Mike told Will, right before the bell rang. The teacher stood up and started taking attendance, then they were off to their first block class.

At the end of the day, Mike went home, changed, and headed back out. As for Will, he didn't even head home. He walked to the park instead of getting on his bus. He knew he was gonna be early, but that didn't matter.

Will walked through the woods on his way to the park. He felt like something bad was gonna happen. His neck told him. The feeling got worse and worse as he got closer to the park. He would check everywhere around him, turning around, looking to the right and the left. Nothing. Until finally, it went away as soon as he exited the forest.

Will walked over to the small playground by the lake where he saw two toddlers going down the slide and one kid, around nine, on the monkey bars. Will sat down on one of the two swings and slowly started pushing himself back and forth.

"You do realize these are for like... kindergartners." Will heard a familiar voice behind him. He looked back and saw Mike.

Will hopped off the swing. "Yeah I know. I was just-"

"No need to explain yourself." Mike gave Will a half smile, then got on the other swing. "Swings are fun."

Will smiled and got back on his swing.

"So we both decided to get here early then?" Mike asked. Will nodded. "Can I... show you something?"

"Sure" Will looked over at Mike, waiting for what he was going to show him. Mike faced his palm up, then quickly directed it back down.

"Never mind." Mike said.

They continued sitting on the swings and chatting about random things. They found out they have a lot of stuff in common like they both like D&D and they both love reading comics. When it came time to leave, they made plans to meet up in the same place tomorrow, then the next day and then the next thing they new they met up at the swings everyday after school. Until the very last day of school.

"Fuck yes!" Dustin yelled as they exited the building. He jumped in a circle from excitement. "Only two more years until we graduate."

"Only?" Mike questioned, looking exhausted as hell. "I might drop out this year."

"Take me with you." Lucas begged.

Mike laughed before walked over to Will. "Same spot?" He wondered. Will shook his head.

"Me and Dustin have plans today, sorry." He told Mike before walked off. Mike didn't even bother replying because Will was too far to hear. Mike walked down to the park anyways and sat on the swing, a toddler swinging next to him.

"Hey loser." Mike heard behind him. Mike turned around and saw El and Max eating ice cream. Max was the one who called out Mike. "What are you doing here all alone?"

"Will had plans so I just came here alone." Mike shrugged. "What are you two doing here?"

"We got ice cream then came here to walk." El replied. "Wanna join?"

"I'm good, thanks. I was actually just about to leave." Mike looked at Max as he said that. "Bye." Mike walked off. As Mike was exiting the park he saw Dustin, Lucas and Will all swimming in the lake.

Mike kept walking, but he didn't head home. He couldn't yet.

As Will was swimming in the water, he heard his watch beeping behind him. He left in on the dock, which meant he couldn't go far from the dock. He went over to it, noticing that it was a crime alert. He swam over to Dustin and Lucas, who were currently in the middle of a splash fight.

"Hey guys, so I actually promised my mom I'd be home by one so I'm going to head out now if that's alright?" He told them. They both nodded and said bye.

Will met up with El at home and got in their dumb disguises before checking the location on their watches.

"It's the grocery store on the end of our street. Another fire." El said. Will nodded and they made their way to the grocery store.

"This should be easy, it's small. You check through isles one through four, I'll check isles five and six and I'll check the back room and bathrooms." Will told El. El ran to isle one first while Will checked the bathrooms first. El found no one in isle one, but she saw a figure, the same height as her, in isle two. When she tried to approach the person, she felt herself being pushed back by an invisible force. She felt herself being lifted into the air. Then she was dropped, and the person was gone.

Will ran into the women's bathroom. No one. The men's bathroom. He kicked open every stall, but as soon as he was about to kick the third one open, a wall of fire appeared around every stall. Nothing a normal fire could do. Will felt himself slowly being pushed into it, but he fought back. Suddenly he felt himself being dragged out of the bathroom by another force, El. She was standing in the door way. El got pushed into the bathroom by someone. Will couldn't see who, he just saw someone behind her before she got pushed in. Then, the whole building collapsed. The whole building except for the men's bathroom, where Will and El were.
