Lloyd thought he only had lord Ras to worry about, but when he learns the oni is also empowered by the red moon, his fears spiral out of control as he tries to prepare for the rising of his oni counterpart. He doesn't want to hurt anyone, and he doesn't want Sora and Arin to find out.
The red moon rises, and not only does Lloyd change and defeat Lord Ras, but now he's taken Hannei hostage and gone into hiding so he can plan his next move without disruption.
